FINAL FANTASY X HD is Not a Remake By Erren Van Duine on February 5, 2012 at 4:07 AM

Little is known about Square Enix’s upcoming FINAL FANTASY X HD for PlayStation 3 and PS Vita.

We’ve yet to even see a proper screenshot since its announcement back at Tokyo Game Show. Regardless, we know have semi-confirmation of one bit of important information surrounding the game.

There seems to be some confusion as to whether the game was in fact a full remake, or simple an HD remaster. In an interview at Taipei Game Show, Square Enix executive Shinji Hashimoto was quizzed on that very question. Is FFX HD a remake or remaster? “It’s being developed like a remaster, but the visuals will be much more improved compared to the original game,” said Hashimoto.

As if there were any doubt.

    I wonder why they are taking so long to reveal any info if its just a remaster. I believe the God of War remakes only took 13 weeks to complete.

    Well, SE’s 1st Production Department is handling it personally… so given their current track record I’m not surprised.

    Squeenix has been slow at everything lately.

    Everything except shitting out excrement like XIII-2.

    Well, there goes any hope of camera control and open world like FFXII. Ah well.

    I also think critics will call it linear like FFXIII when it comes out. The review scores will depend on how good the graphics are and how much new content and features are in the game.

    I have a feeling ANY remake, even a beloved remake of one of the fans’ favorite games, will be criticized. But personally, I have no problem whatsoever with the PS version. Where’s my Type-0? I could care less about Versus, since we virtually know nothing about it. Can anyone explain to me why people are so hyped up for it? I mean, if it turns out to not be up to the fans’ expectations, then what?

    swap the in-game models for the CG models, then bump up the towns and dungeons to match. If that’s all they did I’d be happy as pie
