Tetsuya Nomura “would like to ask for your patience” on Final Fantasy Versus XIII By Erren Van Duine on May 4, 2012 at 1:27 PM

GameInformer got a chance to sit down with Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy Versus XIII boss Tetsuya Nomura.

While the bulk of the article focuses on the upcoming KH3D, the magazine did sneak in a question on Nomura’s long-awaited action RPG. Asked how Final Fantasy Versus XIII was coming along while noting that it’s been 6 years since the game was announced, Nomura replied, “We would like to ask for your patience on an official announcement for this title. It always takes time when tackling the challenge of doing something completely new, but we are doing our best to bring information to the fans as quickly as we can.

Your patience is greatly appreciated.”

With that said, keep in mind that the game hasn’t been announced for western territories at all. Despite being originally shown at E3 2006, Versus XIII remains officially announced only in Japan for the moment. Hopefully that will soon change – just don’t expect it at E3 this year if IGN’s list is anything to go by.

You can check out the full interview in the June issue of GameInformer magazine.

This is amazing. I would like to sit with Nomura after the game is released and ask him what the f’ck happened with this game’s development

It’s done when it’s done. I’ve read only about 1 million comments from trolls saying that Versus is their “last chance” to redeem themselves. The game has to be perfect. I’m sure they’ll show it just as soon as it’s ready. What’s the alternative? Rush it out?

People need to chill the fuck out. No one rides Valve for Half Life 3 like this, or Blizzard for Diablo 3. Both are taking almost twice as long as Versus XIII.

  • GekkoGear

Hold on a minute here, did I just read that Versus 13 is a japan release only for the time being. I really hope it comes to the west because if it doesn’t, this will be the biggest disappointment in gaming history. Due to the fact that thousands of fans have been waiting for this awesome game for 6 grueling years.

It hasn’t been officially announced for North America according to Square Enix USA.

  • Auriakor

Honestly, If they released a few game play pictures of the current build or a video, I would happily wait a lot longer, I feel like I have been too patient, and all the news we get is an announcement about an announcement etc.

We can hopefully have huge announcement and official website and type-0 website for the US version.

And there’s no guarantee that it will be good…I still don’t understand what is so amazing about Versus XIII…someone please explain why it is going to be Square Enix’s “best game since FF7″ as I’ve heard one say!!!

  • Claudeisk

This is my first time reading that it’s a Japan release only. Why show it at E3 then? In the U.S?

  • http://twitter.com/Nova_Crystallis Erren Van Duine

It doesn’t make sense to me either, but it is what it is. I asked Square Enix specifically about it.

  • Claudeisk

It doesn’t look too good if that’s the case. I might just go crazy from all the stress this game is putting on me. SquaRe is handling this game poorly.

I didn’t know that there are some ppl who call themselves FF fanes, think that FFvs13 wouldn’t be good. I’m sure it’ll have everything! If I liked all FF games, then FFvs13 is gonna ROCK!! I’m sure it’ll be ion my 3 fave FF games ;)

  • http://twitter.com/Nova_Crystallis Erren Van Duine

This type of thing is actually something they do on a regular basis.

After all this waiting for fans of Final Fantasy Versus, six years have passed, and if we did not want more news, if you who are part of the Square show no new news about the game will make a big boo in EA3.

*looks at the announcement about next KH*

Wouldn’t it help if you put that aside for a while? :(

  • Claudeisk

So I noticed. If this is Wada’s way of marketing this game for the masses, it’s failing. To be honest, people have given up on this game. It just isn’t worth the wait. Anyhow, thanks for the update, if we could call it that.

People that don’t even like FF are interested due to the unique nature shown in what has been released. best since 7 idk, but a lot of people like that Nomura is taking center stage as opposed to Toriyama.

  • http://twitter.com/Nova_Crystallis Erren Van Duine

You’re welcome. I hope real news happens sooner rather than later.

Actually everyone constantly annoys Valve for Half Life 3, but I understand your point.

Not announced in North America ? It was announced at E3 2006 and almost every trailers had, at the end, WORLDWIDE. What is their freaking problem ? can’t they be honest once in a while ?

I have nothing against the fact they’re taking their sweet time to make the perfect game of this generation but I’d be a lot more patient if they would share information once in a while, screenshots, trailers, something to show us that at least, the game improved in the last 16 months (last trailer).

Uh…what? Can’t understand you at all. I didn’t say anything negative, I’m just amazed at all the anticipation for a game that we don’t really know much about. And I’m not scared, if that’s what you meant…I really couldn’t tell, sorry.

Technically it was announced for Western Territories. It says “For Playstation 3 Worldwide” at the end of the first few trailers!
