The future of the Final Fantasy XIII saga will be revealed this September at the upcoming Final Fantasy 25th anniversary event.

The latest update from Square Enix’s own site outlines event plans including the various stage exhibits from 8/31 to 9/2. The first day is scheduled to be held exclusively for the press and select fans from Square Enix Members which will include the opening ceremony and early demo event.

Final Fantasy XIII will take stage on 9/1 at 11:30. Titled “Final Fantasy XIII Lightning’s Saga – New Developments Presentation,” Square promises details on the future of the project. Yoshinori Kitase, Motomu Toriyama, Isamu Kamikokuryou and other staff from the team will be in attendance.

September 1st will also play host to a Final Fantasy XIV talk with Naoki Yoshida regarding the upcoming version 2.0, as well as a music stage for Final Fantasy XI’s 10th anniversary.

The final day of the event will feature a Final Fantasy VII 15th anniversary stage show with various voice actors from the series. A live recording of Square Enix’s own radio show will also be held including a round table discussion with Hajime Tabata, Yusuke Naora and Yoshihisa Hashimoto on the future of Final Fantasy.

No mention of Final Fantasy Versus XIII was made in the schedule. We’ll of course have more information for you as it comes in.

    Such a shame that a company that I thought, for many years, can do NO WRONG, can fall so low. It’s almost as if they cannot admit that this project has sucked so much time & resources (new engine included), that they have to resort to milking this thing dry just so they can break even with the costs & profit for this thing.

    Let me know when they decide to move on from this snorefest.

    It was official. I’m glad, too…we need a quality game that can outdo FF7 to get everyone’s remake…and I didn’t think FFVersusXIII would be the one to do that. No offense to anyone, of course, but this is my opinion. (I do like Noctis’s hair however…)

    “Create a sequel nobody wants, then do it again”? Really, people. Nobody wants? If nobody wanted it, then they wouldn’t have made it. I would like to know who made that picture, because I’m pretty sure they hate FF13 and 13-2 for some reason. Some people just can’t get out of 1997…

    I’m pretty sure that VERSUS XIII will have a presentation during the TGS 2012. Maybe it’s time for Nomura to show his last playable demo of the game !

    Notice the poll on this website people. It shows that most people would purchase a FF 13-3. I guess for all you Versus people it’s a shame but for me…I would love a FF 13-3! That would mean that hopefully Square would clean up the mess of a story that FF 13-2 left.
    Another thing to the Versus people that like to hate on FF 13…grow up! If you see a headline for FF 13, just don’t read it and keep your comments to yourself. I would appreciate seeing more positive comments rather than all y’all’s negativity.

    You get to read every update BECAUSE he/she is taking the time to work on this website and such. So I would be more appreciative. I know that without novacrystallis, I’d probably never know what’s happening behind SE’s doors.

    Toriyama had 2 games to clean up his mess of a story and he still cant do it, i just dumb to think they would bring out 13-3 without Vs 13 or at least a Type-0 announcement to the west, yes a lot of people want 13-3 in the same way little girls want Justin Bieber, no brain on both sides. And you can play 13-3 for a whole year for all i care but most people want to play NEW FF!

    I, personally, was quite saddened by the FFXIII-2 ending. The “To be continued…” left my jaw open for hours as I tried to process what happened. Don’t get me wrong, their needed to be this sequel because the plot of the first was so unexplained, it’s just annoying because, to me, this is no longer about the story but about the profits. Next, FFXIII Versus has been being made for 6 years because of the FFXIII franchise. 6 years they have been waiting. If complaining on Nova through a couple comments calms them down, so be it. Don’t insult other people in your comment if you want others to take you as… professional.
