Who said Final Fantasy Versus XIII would skip today’s 25th anniversary event?

While not totally inaccurate, Square Enix CEO Yoichi Wada did name drop the game during the exhibit’s opening ceremony. He started off by saying that the series [naturally] isn’t done. In fact it’s appeared on a variety of consoles. Of course, Versus XIII is also in production. He went on to say, “When [the game] reaches the level where it gives you that nostalgic, “this is Final Fantasy!” feeling, I want to show it to everyone.”

In case you needed yet another confirmation.

Outside of that, Tetsuya Nomura did a sketch of Noctis for the event. “Congratulations on the 25th anniversary. Please wait for his turn to appear.”

i love this site…im a big RPG fan and its good to know that FF Versus is not dead..im excited about lighning right now..i hope the story bring lighning the lover not lighning the tomboy :]

I like that Nomura has gone back to his more reserved style from the early 90s and isn’t going crazy with the hair or the belts and zippers.

Noctis and his friends are some of his best designed characters yet I think, glad he decided to cut his hair horter, makes him look more regal.

I heard that it might. The situation is still fluid, so it’s hard to say for sure. Things can change all the time, so nothing is guaranteed… especially with Square Enix.

Depressing that it “might” make an appearance… its been almost 2 years since we last heard of it, and they still throwing stupid things like FFXIII-3 at us… the fact Nomura said “Please wait for Noctis’ time” makes me think that it’s not coming at TGS this year…

That’s the thing with hearing rumors – they’re just that, rumors. And information/schedules can change so quickly. But Nomura is most definitely working hard on the game and I think the latest we’ll see it is some time next year for certain.

How does it not have the FF nostalgic feeling ? It did that pretty much with the latest trailers, and information so far…

How does this not have the FF nostalgic feeling but every FF since FF10 did ? Come on, this is the real next FF since FF9. It’s about time we get something similar to what FF7 and FF8 were.

There is also Type-0, that game too should have been a main numbered FF, opposed to the games Toriyama is involved with which should have been the spin-offs…

I don’t like that quote from Wada. It sounds like he trying to change Versus XIII from Nomura’s original vision. I hope the corporate meddling that happened to Matsuno with FFXII is not happening with Nomura in FF Versus XIII.

Noctis still looks great, this game is highly anticipated and gorgeous. The sketch is awesome and one of his best.

I know. Still, that quote from Wada has really rubbed me the wrong way. Wasn’t Versus XIII supposed to show a unique direction of the FF that was impossible to be done in the mainline series?
- Realistic characters and dialogue.
- A story so serious and depressing that it couldn’t be done in mainline FF.
- More reality than fantasy.

All that sounded far from being a “nostalgic FF” that Wada is saying. The fact he was in a meeting for Versus XIII a few week ago (and saw the stunning HD city) should have given me a sign that the executives were now involved in the development and direction of the game.

FFXIV bombing has really screwed Nomura over. Now SQEX management are all paranoid and won’t give him freedom to make FF Versus XIII like he originally intended.

Cant wait to see more of noctis. I love how they arnt giving us many trailers because this game is more like a mystery to us, as long as it keeps me happy seeing what the game play looks like lol
