Rufus Shinra Play Arts prototype revealed at Tokyo Game Show By Erren Van Duine on September 20, 2012 at 12:42 AM

As teased last month by Square Enix Merchandise General Manager, Hidemi Matsuzuka, the character who had never been commercialized before is here. As widely expected, it’s Rufus Shinra.

On display at TGS, the prototype Play Arts has appeared unpainted. Given Square’s obsession with everything Advent Children, it’s no surprise that Rufus has been styled in that manner. No release date has been given for his debut, but it’s certainly exciting to see one of Final Fantasy VII’s unsung characters represented in great detail.

More merchandise pictures from this year’s TGS can be found here.

You really should fact-check your information before deciding to launch such a meager boycott… XIII actually sold very well, and the only reason for Versus’ absence is due to Nomura’s incompetence to get this game out almost 7 years later. He’s had more than enough time, says to us the progress is going well, and won’t even share something as little as concept art…

  • GhostReverie

I don’t think it’s fair to cast ALL blame on Nomura. After all, weren’t a sizable amount of his resources put into the production of the FFXIII games?

  • Guest

Different production team. Nomura had 7 years to explain something, but gave us nothing.

XIII sold well solely on name recognition. Stop fooling yourself.

    YES.

uh oh we got a tough guy in here. Why put out XIII-2 if they saw that XIII had mixed reception AND knowing they wouldn’t get as many sales? Why not cut their losses and be done with this? It’s because of the fans. There is a good chunk of people who support this series, and enough consumers bought XIII-2 plus the DLC to warrant now a third game next year. The only person being fooled is you. Try again.

  • Mark

XIII-2 was made BECAUSE XIII failed; they wanted to fix all the things the haters hate.

Also, XIII-2 sold more than 4 million less than XIII.

If XIII was well received it would trend like X –> X-2.

  • Aqua

The game was created to tweak a few things haters didn’t like, but “haters gonna hate” rang true. You people still looked at XIII-2 with a closed-minded view and had already made up your mind about whether you liked the game or not. It’s sad to see some of the troubled FF fans so negative and unknowable these days.

  • Aqua

Let’s boycott Versus XIII HURR DURR. What a dumbass. The production team is KH, smarty. Know your facts.

  • Mark

The production team is FFVII:AC and KH, both of which are Square Enix. Dumbass.

  • Mark

Yup; they looked at XIII-2 close-minded because it was an unwanted sequel to mixed received game.

Wow, I really want to delete the Versus XIII whining posts. Please stop.

    Versus XIII?

  • Duddfad

Guess you’d have to delete yourself, then

That’s because the screenshot from the movie is flipped/mirrored.
