The English version of Final Fantasy Type-0 remains in limbo By Erren Van Duine on October 13, 2012 at 12:10 PM

Final Fantasy Type-0 still isn’t coming to the west anytime soon.

That harsh reality was reenforced at Tokyo Game Show, where several sources in and outside of Square Enix confirmed the continued non-existence of the game’s localization. According to 1UP’s Jeremy Parish, “no less than four people I talked to at TGS made it very clear that the English version of Type-0 is moribund, at least in its current form.”

All of this despite various reports that have pointed toward some sort of localization or another.

Perhaps the only good news to come out of this debacle is a separate confirmation that Final Fantasy X HD, which was revealed last year for PS3 and PS Vita, is still in development. It may be slow in coming “for some reasons” that were not specified.

Final Fantasy Type-0 released to critical acclaim and impressive sales when it released last October in Japan. Since then the game has seen adaptations into novels, manga and other merchandise with an Ultimate Hits version is due out on December 6th for ¥2,940.

    PSP has been plagued with piracy and Vita’s install base is none too impressive. Can’t blame Square’s apprehension to release it to Western audiences. My guess is that they’re waiting for more people to own a Vita (perhaps piggy-backing from upcoming releases such as CoD or Assassin’s Creed) and for a price-cut. I’d personally would find purchasing a Vita more appealing if there was a Vita/Type-0 bundle with a reduced price.

    Indeed. I’d end up purchasing a Vita just for Type-0. I’m sure many others would, too, but I think a price cut would be more helpful. Or a bundle, like you say.

    The system will die if all of it’s games are multiplatform.

    Honestly, at this point, I don’t see it coming over. If does make the jump to the West, it will likely be as an episodic iOS game. If not that, then it’s not coming over at all. After all, FFXII International Zodiac Job System never came over despite high demand for it.

    I rather this be for ps3 as well. Ps3 is still kicking. If ffx hd an have both why not type 0.
