Introducing Final Fantasy XIV’s new night cycle By Erren Van Duine on January 20, 2013 at 10:37 PM

Final Fantasy XIV’s first closed beta phase is only weeks away, and to whet your appetite, Square Enix has provided a look at the new game’s night life.

In the alpha version, the day/night cycle had not yet been implemented, but it seems we may get a taste of it in the beta. Here’s your first look of the evening, complete with the different phases of Hydaelyn’s moon.

I fell hook line and sinker for XI when it came out and stuck around for about 18 months and I still haven’t seen a MMO story top that of XI’s Vanilla and Zilart (I’m also a bit of a Kato fanboy).

That being said, while everything I see about Final Fantasy XIV:ARR intrigues me, I’m concerned the changing dynamics of the MMO marketplace will result in us never seeing the major non-Toriyama SE talent make another ‘HD’ game for Square Enix Japan.

Looks amazing! Too bad the only way to enjoy Akihiko Yoshida’s immense talents is to play a subscription mmo. But eh, I’m going to have to try it anyway.

Hey if they’ed let other people, especially over seas people come in there and make a final fantasy game then I would go up in there and kill it(figuratively speaking) there are many other people out there with great ideas.
