Final Fantasy XI and XIV creators weigh in on the PlayStation 4

This week’s Famitsu featured an interview segment, where many Japanese game creators gave their thoughts on Sony’s next generation hardware.

Among them were Square Enix’s Akihiko Matsui and Akihiko Yoshida – current staff on Final Fantasy XI and XIV respectively. In regards to FFXI, Matsui said he’d love to try a “FFXI Gaiden” or side-story. In regards to the PS4, he said he’d like to create something revolving around remote play – that is, port the game to PS4 and have it be the server, while the Vita functions as a client for multiple party play.

For FFXIV, Yoshida recognized the demand for a PS4 port of the upcoming MMO, but reminds us that the team’s current priority is the PS3 version of the game. It must be said, however, that he feels a PS4 version of XIV is definitely possible, but one step must be taken at a time.
