Final Fantasy X|X-2 HD Remaster: PS2 vs. PS3 comparison

The gloves are off – Square Enix has lifted the veil on Final Fantasy X HD and it’s simply stunning, but how does it compare to the classic PlayStation 2 release?

While previous rumors had made tell about a possible visual upgrade for the game, I don’t think anyone expected what we received today. A lot of hard work has gone into this release – something that clearly justifies the nearly two year absence since the game’s original announcement at TGS 2011. Visually, the dated PS2 character models have undergone a complete overhaul, low resolution textures redrawn, and even the CG videos have been reshot for modern TVs.

The Internet has already been fast at work too – swift to provide the inevitable comparison between the original and this beefed up PS3 remaster. Please note the PS2 version is running on an upscaled emulator, but you can clearly see this isn’t your average HD reproduction.
