Naoki Yoshida has made no secret his interest in developing for the next generation, and Final Fantasy XIV’s PS4 announcement at E3 was clear proof of his commitment to bring the game to the future of home consoles.
With the PC and PS3 versions launching next week, there are likely many people wondering what’s next for the title – and more specifically when fans can get their hands on the promised launch of the PS4 client in 2014.
Speaking with 4Gamer, and translated over on the official FFXIV forums, Yoshida made a few comments on the status of the PS4 version – suggesting that it was in fact coming within a reasonable time frame.
“I think it’s going to be much earlier than most are expecting,” said Yoshida. “I have mentioned this before but, we are making adjustments to transfer service so people will be satisfied playing the PS3 version. We’ll make an announcement for this not too long from now, but for now we would like players to play A Realm Reborn and Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII on current generation machines (laugh).”
