Final Fantasy Holiday 2013 Import Guide

This year is once again an exciting time for Final Fantasy fans.

Two major titles are on the horizon, and in the future we can expect Final Fantasy XIV for PS4, Final Fantasy XV, and more! Those looking to get their hands on both Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy X|X-2 HD Remaster early, or who just prefer the Japanese voice cast, might be interested in our quick import guide.

Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII – Out Nov. 21st
13-22

With a Western release slated for early February in both North America and Europe, Japan will get to find out exactly what’s happening in the world of Nova Chrysalia around three months before those in the West.

Intended to end the Final Fantasy XIII trilogy, Lightning Returns features the pink-haired Lightning as the sole protagonist. Set five hundred years after the events of Final Fantasy XIII-2, Lightning must take up her sword once again in her final battle against a new deity while saving the souls of humanity in a doomed world heading toward its end.

If you want to set up an Import Pre-order for Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII the guys at Play Asia have the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions both up for Pre-order as well as an all-new figure of Lightning’s new costume from the game. There’s a sound track and keychain available, too.

Final Fantasy X|X-2 HD Remaster – Out Dec. 26th
X2

Final Fantasy X|X-2 HD Remaster has had an interesting life over the past two years, but now it’s finally ready for release. Announced back at Tokyo Game Show 2011, the project remained quiet until this year when it resurfaced prior to E3. As the project ballooned it became a fully-fledged HD remaster bundle, now set to launch with both Final Fantasy X and X-2 in one package on PlayStation 3 and separately on PS Vita.

Sporting redone character models, a new aspect ratio, and a cleaned up UI it promises to be the definitive version of both Final Fantasy X and X-2. Both titles come with expanded content from previously Japanese-exclusive versions of the original games, including the Dark Aeons and Penance battles in X, extra Dresspheres and a monster creation system in X-2, as well as an extension game to X-2 known as “Last Mission.”

Sadly, though, there’s been no word of a Western date out side of “this Winter.” But have no fear – the PS3 and PS Vita are region-free and Play Asia have the PlayStation 3 and Vita versions of Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy X-2 for pre-order. In addition to that, Square Enix and Sony are offering up a limited edition PS Vita hardware bundle that comes packed with both games and a themed system. Other merchandise due out at launch include a Final Fantasy X HD Remaster Original soundtrack – featuring newly arranged tracks, as well as Tidus and Yuna Play Arts Kai figures.
