Final Fantasy XIV Patch 2.2 will launch on March 27th, vanity system detailed

Final Fantasy XIV’s upcoming 2.2 Patch has finally a date attached to it, announced by Producer/Director Naoki Yoshida through his 55th Producer Letter over on the official forums. Arriving on March 27th – six days following the next Letter from the Producer Live – the patch is undergoing the final checks, including the addition of one of the most sought-after features: vanity.

According to Yoshi-P, players will be able to project the look of one piece of gear onto another using a special crystal without affecting the outcome of your stats and can be used in the following ways:

  • They can be used on all gear the same or lower equipment level than your current gear.
  • After using a glamour prism, the gear being copied can be entrusted to your retainer.
  • As long as the base gear and the gear being copied occupy the same number of gear slots, you can copy the appearance of any gear equippable by your current class or job.

Other systems heading to 2.2 include master recipe books for crafting classes, gardening for Free Company housing areas, retainer ventures, new hairstyles, new mounts and more. Additionally, those with relic weapons might want reconsider using them if they aren’t – a new opportunity to unlock more power beyond Zenith will emerge.
