Square Enix outlines their strategy and major initiatives for 2014

Things are looking up a bit for Square Enix, as the company has posted a profit following the success of titles such as Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn and Final Fantasy X|X-2 HD Remaster as disclosed in one of our previous reports. The company today has included a brief outline on what to expect from them in the current fiscal year leading through the end of March 2015.

Going forward Square Enix is planning on reviewing their large-scale, long-term development policy as well as accelerating development cycles. The company will also continue to focus on smart devices as a gaming platform through expansion of major titles such as the upcoming Final Fantasy Agito and creation of titles catered to consumer tastes in their respective markets. Overseas expansion to China for several titles including Final Fantasy XIV and possibly Dragon Quest X are also being considered as Square Enix has been eying the addition of new business in Asian regions.

Looking at their lineup for the rest of the year on the HD games side of things, fans can expect Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX, Drakengard 3, Nosgoth, Murdered Soul Suspect and Thief in the Japanese markets. Titles such as Final Fantasy XV and Kingdom Hearts III should be expected to appear at a much later date. With E3 on the horizon, it’s likely that we may hear what Square Enix has in the cards for 2015 and beyond.
