Here are the games you can expect Square Enix to livestream at E3 2014 By Erren Van Duine on June 5, 2014 at 4:38 PM

Square Enix has begun teasing their E3 line-up today with a bit of news concerning the company’s returning livestream show, Square Enix Presents. This year, fans can expect developers and creators to feature Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX, Theatrhythm Final Fantasy Curtain Call and Hitman Sniper.

While the full streaming schedule has yet to be announced, we know that FFXIV in particular will be serving up two separate Live Letters on Tuesday and Thursday next week as well as a look at the potential user-submitted questions from the official Kingdom Hearts survey fielded online recently. Notable absences include both Final Fantasy XV and Kingdom Hearts III – although we suspect they may be too far off for Square Enix to talk about them in any serious length quite yet.

Nova Crystallis will be on-hand at E3 starting next week, so be sure to stay tuned for our continued coverage on those games and more.

I don’t think FFXV should be considered as too far off to be talked about in serious length

  • FlamingLechon

It’s so obvious that they are gonna show FFXV

  • Starlord

I just think it’s another one of those ” we aren’t going to say it’s there till the day of the event”. cuz you know, it IS a big game after all, so of course they are going to be lip shut about it, they did the same thing last year revealing all the side games and saved the big game for the Sony Presser. If it going to be at the presser it’s more reason it’s not listed. Also, they said “That’s all for *now*”. kinda implies there’s more games.

    Will see.

  • GS

Erren, you keep repeating that (Versus and KH3 being too far off) as if it is confirmed by some inside source or something. If you have such information please do share or at least give us a hint because otherwise it seems like an uneducated logic given the latest info and updates available to us since last year. Well, if KH3 was too far off that wouldn’t be that surprising but XV… It just seems too much for me for this title to get lost again after a full re-reveal. They themselves (via several high profile staff, including Nomura, have made several statements in the opposing direction) so if this is the case they really are massively contradicting themselves I think.

I very much respect your views on such matters but this one admittedly caught me a bit off guard. So if you have the kindness and the time in your disposal please do elaborate.

Well I guess we’re gonna find out in a few days anyway but the very notion of this being a possibility is rather unsettling (at least for me).

  • Martian Wong

I believe Shinji Hashimoto said last month at the Thailand gaming events that FFXV will be in E3.

  • Erren

Square Enix’s own financials have nothing big planned through March 2015. Both titles aren’t coming before that and if they were they would be talking about them right now. Despite the fact they promised last year they would share more information we really haven’t gotten a single thing since E3 2013 and that to me suggests that once again something is happening behind the scenes we don’t know about, and SE won’t talk about.

  • Starlord

“Up to March 2015” who’s to say it won’t release in April/May 2015 eh? Last E3 they did the same exact thing, release minor games on the SE Presents ( FFXV wasn’t on there nor KH3) guess what? it showed. I wouldn’t count FFXV out yet.

  • Martian Wong

You speak as if E3 came and gone. We are still a couple days away from E3. They did share information after last E3 even though it is some minor stuff.

  • Samsara09

it could even release in Dezember-February.Also,mathematics isn’t absolute. They could be playing it safe.

  • Samsara09

if they have an ass,I hope they do so.Things are getting ugly with the fans, and fast.

  • Samsara09

Honestly, you aren’t treating XV issue with the care it is due.You are exposing yourself to too much heat, needlessly.

People are really hyped, especially after 8 long years of waiting.Saying every time that the game is far off is gonna provoke the fans. The usual “possible reality vs ideal expectation”.They will get unsettled, annoyed or angry. Some of them, especially the unsettled, will still keep a semblance of dignity and respect, like me and mister/mistress GS among others, but the others, the angry in particular, won’t.Can you handle those nut-jobs?

Also…every time you say this, you are putting your reputation on the line. What if this game appears? What if they reveal the release date? What if they show extended game play?Even if the chance for most of this is really minuscule,it is still there. And if one of your predictions gets wrong, what about any future prediction you do?just one mistake can cost you your head, and your fall in disgrace.

If I am wrong,I am wrong.i am just a random poster, with no interest in winning respect or notoriety, nor having anything to lose making predictions, unlike you.

I know it’s Square Enix, but are they really that ashamed to show off new footage, or to talk about how development is going? Just an update would be great, something new to keep the interest alive. A lot of fans have lost their faith in the company, or want to show interest in XV but have nothing much to go on to really care enough. Surely Square must realise that there are a *lot* of people who are eager to support them. People who want to have something to talk about until the next big gaming event. I don’t care if it’s still in development or that the footage may be subject to change. I just want to be kept in the loop a little bit more, as someone who is really excited about the project. I mean whatever happens.. happens. But something would be nice! 🙂

  • Samsara09

i think they are afraid. They want this game to revolutionize…but,i think they are still making adjustments. For instance,XIII.They considered to make vanille the main protagonist, but they couldn’t,because they already have said Lightning would be it.

in other words, the more they reveal, the more their backs are thrown into the wall…and they can’t back out of it.So,in order to avoid taking such compromises, they on purpose avoid giving info. With this, they won’t be forced to keep something they don’t like in the game…and they have total freedom to make changes in the game.

  • Fabrica

I don’t know what’s going on, but I do know that I want a free lunch. Too bad I won’t be anywhere near E3 next week. 🙂

  • Fabrica

Hashimoto can’t help but tease us all the time, but he’s a cool guy.

  • GS

OK, so I think I do have heard this before from you (probably when the financial report got posted here) and totally forgot it but don’t you think it is a bit exaggerated to believe that this is the case with only that report as a piece of evidence? I mean, I am definitely not it in a position right now to remember if something similar to this concerning a mainline FF occurred before (financial reports revealing such crucial info) but it would be logical I think to keep it down until the big stage in order to build as much hype as possible (something that fewer and fewer western studios do nowadays though, information flows at a consistent basis even a full year before release). If (and that’s a big if) this really is the case I really don’t know what to say, that would be so awful. There really is no reason for some gameplay footage or juicy info to not be released. Of course someone will say that such info did get released in the past and look where we are now… And he/she would be right… I really hope this is not the case.

  • Fabrica

    The joys of journalism, Samsara.

  • Guest

I’m sure companies are not allowed to fudge their numbers arbitrarily just to hide the release period of an AAA game, but I could be wrong on this point.

  • GS

Samsara, I am a man and I very much like to think that I try to engage in some serious conversation without wanting to insult or do injustice to anyone. If Erren wants to maintain this train of thought it is her privilege and right to do so (as long as she is able to support it with actual evidence). If anyone else wants to behave like a raging fanboy randomly attacking people online they also have the means to act that way, but we dedicated long time Square fans (and probably adults by now) definitely can keep a level of decency I think.

I don’t think a dedicated fansite has to be pretending that everything is totally fine at all costs (especially at times where the 1st Department seemed to be falling apart). Erren has shown this in the past and I totally respected her for that.

The truth is I am more of an external observer and I try not to delve to much such inside community matters but this nonsensical behaviors you mention do exist and I think we as well have a responsibility to ward them off in order to keep a certain level of decency (if these kinds of communities matter to us at all of course). Not that journalists don’t have a similar (if not more important) responsibility as well.

  • I bet that at the end of this E3 we will be all hyped up, running around and screaming about Final Fantasy XV. I believe that something will be showed up… C’mon! They were evil making us wait for the game stucked in the silence for years. But are they that evil? Hahaha! I hope we get some Final Fantasy XV info. Realese window…And a beautiful trailer. Just beacuse KHIII and FFVX aren’t in this wierd video it means we won’t see them in the conference? I don’t think so.

  • Starlord

Same thing happened last year ( exactly) their second video last year showed off games and FFXV/KH3 wasn’t on the list, then it popped out of no where and shocked everyone. perhaps they are aiming for the same thing this year.

  • Slickyslacker

This is worrying, to say the least. It’s easy to say that these 4 games will occupy the 4 booths they have reserved.

They’re only making me tear my hair out even faster. They’ve been so ridiculously noncommittal and dodgy, that I, a rabid fanboy, have stopped sitting at the edge of my seat. I’ll be sitting back and shaming them if they seriously blow it this year.

…On the same hand, it’s not like they would announce a big surprise right before the convention. That’s the only hope I’m still riding on.

If they wait until TGS, I’ll be incredibly pissed, but not necessarily surprised. Releasing this video has only made the minimal wait even more unbearable.

  • Starlord

Last year they had less booths and still had alot of games ( FFXV/KH3/FFXIII:LR/ FFXIV ARR/Kingdom Hearts 1.5 Remix/Dues EX/Thief/Murdered: Soul Suspect/ FFX-X-2 HD Remaster/

That’s 9 games with less booths ( 1 booth if I remember correctly and meeting rooms)

This list they showed off is just a short teaser.

  • Guest

    Don’t blink during E3! 🙂

  • Slickyslacker

Right, right. I’m just constantly concerned.

  • Starlord

I don’t blame ya, it’s only 4 days a way. I am sure SE will pull the big guns for sure.

  • Wazi the pa

They wouldn’t spoil off the surprise of showing off Final Fantasy XV in E3 2014 with Square Enix Present. It will be there.

  • Octavio Valdez

If they don´t at least confirm a presence at TGS then i would be very concerned for the FFXV and KHIII development, it would confirm that they have been lying about the devlopment going well, when in fact they may be having the same vision conflicts and lack of ideas as in the FF13 series. Honestly i am starting to believe that if SQEnix can´t pull off good games anymore they might as well close their Japan development studios or just focus them on their little Japan centric games for tables and such, since they seem to be very in love with them.

  • Octavio Valdez

Ok people bad news, confirming my fears, calling it now these games might be altogether vaporwares for what we know now: http://www.dualshockers.com/2014/06/06/e3-wont-bring-any-news-about-final-fantasy-xv-and-kingdom-hearts-iii-development-proceeding-steadily/

  • stealth20k

    really bad lineup

  • Well according to what we’ve read today in Famitsu I think that this is not gonna happen… So frustrating… Hope they suprise us once again and this story of ”FFXV skipping E3′ might be just a joke.

  • Starlord

Yeah, I know I read the article, it’s sad. What can ya do though? I did say however that if it didn’t come at E3 it should come at TGS (on their home turf). They did say they are preparing big information back in Feb 2014. If not a E3 then either one of their own events or TGS. I do think we will get that big info before year’s end.

  • Well then… Now E3 has become meaningless for me. I was hoping to get some glimpses of FFXV. We should have expected that! I don’t know how I’m not used to this kind of thing coming from SE yet.
