Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Letter from the Producer LIVE Part XVI Summary; Ninja and Gold Saucer teased

Today’s Final Fantasy XIV Letter from the Producer Live took on a different approach of note, with Yoshi-P and Lead Designer Nobuaki Komoto taking the stage to discuss the ins and outs of the recently released Patch 2.3 as well as the “future of Eorzea.”

Touching on the hot-bed subject of the game’s new Mob Hunts, the development team is currently looking into speeding up the rate of some FATEs to make things like daily marks easier to obtain, as well as up the daily mark reward to give players a bigger incentive to complete them. While there are no plans to add other means to acquire Allied Seals, Yoshida is looking into ways to curb the issue of Elite marks dying so quickly without relying on just an HP increase. Elite mark rewards will not be increased either as it will only cause more people to focus on them, and likely neglect other content in the game.

Concerning Frontlines PvP, players can use vanity starting from Patch 2.35. The team is also looking to save PvP actions and traits between jobs, randomize Frontlines starting points and eventually add more maps and rules down the line.

Yoshida confirmed that Crystal Tower will end in 2.5, with the Coil of Bahamut set to conclude in Patch 2.4. In regards to the current loot system in Sycrus Tower, there are no plans to split the lockout between the Unidentified Allagan Tomestone and Oils with the CT-specific gear as Yoshida considers both potential upgrades for players.

A few other things to note include the issue of crafting materials dropping more frequently in dungeons, Dragoon balancing is being looked into, and a new costume from a certain famous Final Fantasy character will soon be available for completing content “in a certain patch.” Yoshida also offered up a look at Ninja gameplay, which will be available in Patch 2.4, as well as a tease for the highly anticipated Gold Saucer, which looks to include FF-style mini-games such as Chocobo racing and more. Square Enix will also be starting up a free 14-day trial and referral program in the near future, so keep a look out for those. The game will also be hitting its one year anniversary next month and the team plans to celebrate by bringing back several of the special event FATEs including Dragon Quest X, Final Fantasy XI and Lightning Returns.
