Those looking to dabble in Final Fantasy XIV before committing to the whole thing can do so today, as Square Enix is launching their long-awaited free trial program for the game. Curious fans can take to the trial version website – currently only available for PC users – and try out the game through level 20.

Square Enix has also launched its “Recruit a Friend Campaign,” allowing current subscribers to obtain a bonus if a friend subscribes to either 30 or 90 days. The rewards for doing so include a Friendship Circlet that increases EXP earned by 20% when below level 25 and a Draught Chocobo Whistle, which can carry two passengers when partied with others. The circlet will be obtainable by both recruiter and friend while the mount remains recruiter exclusive.
