Final Fantasy XIV – Letter from the Producer LIVE XVII: Questions galore with special guest Hideyuki Kasuga!

Square Enix are continuing strong with their 14-Hour Anniversary Broadcast on YouTube, Twitch and NicoNico; one part of this on-going livestream was the seventeenth installment of the Letter from the Producer LIVE in which a multitude 49 questions were answered by the usual pair, Yoshida and Foxclon.

The most exciting announcement from the LIVE Letter was that Triple Triad will be featured in the upcoming Golden Saucer, along with Chocobo Racing. This is something that has been requested by the community for the longest time so there is sure to be a few happy individuals with this inclusion. On the note of Chocobo Racing, it will be interesting to see how well it fits in with the newly included Chocobo Raising, and perhaps the potential for further expansion and addition of racing statistics (Top Speed, Acceleration?) could be possible in the future.

Guest speaker and Lead Programmre Hideyuki Kasuga took to the sofa with Yoshida and Foxclon to speak of his position and how his day to day activities vary. Among the questions asked, he was questioned in regards to DirectX 11 progress in which Kasuga informed viewers “We’ve essentially finished the drawing aspects. Next, we’ll be looking at expressions possible with DirectX 11 as well as how to achieve expressions that we couldn’t with DirectX 9.”, also spoke about was upcoming Personal Housing, Hunt fixes for disappearing monsters, as well as upcoming support for Mac and secondary screen/device utility.

Sadly nothing was shown in-regards to the upcoming Patch 2.4, and it was only briefly mentioned in passing, no gameplay footage was shown either meaning our ever lengthy Gallery section has been cut short this time! Ultimately this was a very question heavy Letter from the Producer with little to no visual content, but with the 14-Hour Broadcast still having 5 hours to go (at the time of writing), the potential for new content announcements is very high!
