Final Fantasy XV has a new character: Luna

The blonde woman referred to as “Luna” in Final Fantasy XV’s latest trailer is a new character, according to a new report in Dengeki PlayStation out this week. The magazine, which features several additional unreleased images, writes that “A new mysterious woman has been revealed. One can only wonder what her involvement is with Noct and his friends on their journey.” Whether or not she bears any relation (or is a replacement) to the game’s established heroine, Stella Nox Fleuret, remains to be seen.

Luna is first mentioned as someone in a location called Altissia. It appears she and Noctis are familiar with each other, the trailer dialogue hinting that they might know each other from some point in the past.

Tetsuya Nomura established last year that the blonde seen at E3 2013 was indeed Stella, who has seen some alterations over the years. His desire to alter her design was because he wanted to make her prettier than the original concept. “I actually created something that is not my type of character, but obviously time has past since then, about six years now, and then she actually became something that I quite like now,” Nomura told Finaland.

We’ve got a few of the new shots out of both Dengeki PlayStation and Famitsu for you below. Most of the other information in these articles, including interviews with director Hajime Tabata, have been detailed here and here.
