Final Fantasy XIII launches today for Windows PC By Erren Van Duine on October 9, 2014 at 2:05 PM

Final Fantasy XIII is out now for PC, having been announced for release along with its sequels on Steam several weeks ago. Arriving as a console-based port, the PC version is locked at 720p, although it features “full screen” and “60fps support” according to Square Enix. The PC version also supports both English and Japanese language, which accounts for its nearly 60GB install. The trilogy will also offer a set of Steam Trading Cards for players to collect and exchange.

Square have also included a launch trailer, featuring a number of the game’s CG scenes. The game’s Steam page can be accessed through here.

Now to wait for the modders to get to work and come out with some really crazy mods *V*

I’m at work and this game is probably still downloading. 😉

    But oh man, 49 gigs?!

    Or unlock 1080p…

    or mods

Let us all pray that SE brings us graphic options to the game!

  • Jesus Christ

I’ll take your prayers into consideration. Please give me 1-2 Sundays. Thank you for praying.

Lord have faith in thy modders, who shall rule this earth and make this game awesome!

Why doesn’t the trailer show in engine footage of the game like gameplay? Oh well, the modders will sort everything out.

When I first saw the article about it being stuck at 720p, I thought it was a huge issue. But the fact that people are complaining about graphics is just stupid in my opinion.
I loved XIII on the console, and I will love it for PC. 😛

I wasn’t going to buy it because I have it on PS3… but then I read that you could play this game with Japanese voice acting. Somehow, I couldn’t resist that :S

Screams a half-assed PC port to me. Really…no graphics option in this day and age? Money grubbing hands they have. If you’re playing on a 4k monitor or even a a 2560p monitor, either 1) super pixelated mess at full screen or 2) tiny ass window in the corner of the monitor.

To be fair, the console version came out almost 5 years ago. To hope for some upgrades is not unreasonable.

But I guess they’re going to (tacitly) leave it up to the modders to upgrade.

The people who complain about the 720p will be the first to moan that games today are all about graphics…

  • Mugen

Also, apparently it’s the 360 verison. Basically people are saying the ps3 one outputs at 1080p on everything, yet, they give us the vastly inferior 360 port that only outputs on 720p. And the game has horrendous framerate dips and stuttering, even in the menu. Basically it’s not even optimized for PC. If you don’t see something wrong with that…I don’t know what to say to you.
