Is Stella still in Final Fantasy XV? Square Enix won't comment

The fate of Final Fantasy Versus XIII heroine Stella Nox Fleuret remains unknown. After her brief E3 2013 appearance Square Enix has remained mum on her character, once positioned as someone integral to the game’s cast at large. Recent trailers depict a new female character by the name of Luna – a name which has been confirmed to us not only in magazine articles but also through trailer dialogue. Why is it Square Enix has shifted the focus to her with little explanation?

One fan had the opportunity to ask.

Speaking to fans at Comic Fiesta in Malaysia, Final Fantasy XV lead game designer Wan Hazmer presented several pieces of information we’ve already heard along with further details on the recent Jump Festa trailer. Twitter user @Tron942 was then able to ask if Stella was still in the game. Hazmer apparently laughed, with a shake of his head before replying “No comment.”

Based on speculation, Hazmer likely knows what’s going on with the character and by the sound of it she may not be abandoned completely.

Hazmer also showed off a bit of new concept art, depicting the newly revealed town of Lestallum. Even though the town is heavily inspired by Cuba’s Havana, he has inserted bits and pieces of Malaysian culture into the mix. Hazmer also showed off some of the NPCs and the things they will do as they go about their day, including making food, as well as a hotel room Noctis can stay at.
