Square Enix wants Final Fantasy XV's creatures to be based on reality too

The round of hiring for Final Fantasy XV continues, this time with a new job listing revealing a more on design philosophies and applicant expectations.

This new listing, which calls for an animator, is looking for someone who can breathe life into the enemies in the game, reasoning that in Japan monsters play a more important role in fantasy games than they do in their Western counterparts. Square Enix doesn’t want them to be just simple “enemies,” but rather creatures with an actual ecology behind their existence.

The goal is to continue to create a game rooted in the real world, and by focusing on the importance of ecology FFXV can reach closer to its own “fantasy based on reality” moniker. In order to do this, the ad states that a large amount of animation work is necessary to express a strong presence, as the team would like to create monsters that will become memorable for the users.
