Final Fantasy XV demo can be played indefinitely, code valid for one year

Due out in just four weeks from now, Final Fantasy XV Episode Duscae will be giving fans their first taste of the game after nearly a decade of patient waiting. Built atop the Luminous Engine, Square Enix has created a vast world to explore filled with plains, forests and a variety of wildlife. The word Duscae is in reference to the region the demo will take place in – which is just a small fraction of the many other areas that will be explorable in the full game.

The demo is said to contain several hours worth of playtime and features many hidden secrets throughout the land.

Today Square Enix Europe shared details on how fans can obtain this limited download, available exclusively with all “Day One” copies of Final Fantasy Type-0 HD. Playable on Type-0’s launch day, Episode Duscae will come with both physical and digital copies of the game. The boxed copies will be available as supplies last, but the digital version will include the demo for an unspecified time period.

Inside the game box for Type-0 HD will be a voucher with the XV demo code printed to be redeemed either on PlayStation Network or Xbox Live. This code will be redeemable from launch day all the way until March 20, 2016 so even if you’re unable to reap the rewards of it right away, players should still have plenty of time to get their codes in. Once the demo is downloaded to your hard drive, Square Enix promises that it will be yours to keep forever. That means Square Enix won’t be deactivating it at any given date – it’s yours until you delete it. Of course, you’ll need an internet connection to download the thing when it releases.

While the information we received today came from Europe, the conditions should be similar for the other regions based on the company’s recent actions. We’ll be sure to share that information once the North American and Japanese sides of things provide it.
