Final Fantasy XV screenshot update delves deeper into Episode Duscae

Square Enix has released a new set of Final Fantasy XV screenshots today, detailing more of what’s to be expected in the upcoming demo release next month.

The Final Fantasy XV screenshots show more of the game’s combat system. Noctis and pals are seen fighting at night, when enemies – such as goblins – become much more dangerous and capable of inflicting status debuffs such as poison. We’ve also a look at the gas station, the game’s camping menu, Noctis’ red eyes, and further exploration and battle scenes involving the mighty “Smoke Eye” behemoth.

Due to the integrated day and night cycle, locations such as the gas station will light up in the dark and become places of safe haven against the cave dwellers that roam out into the open at night. Camping is an activity that will allow Noctis and friends to level up and converse, and Ignis can cook a variety of food granting bonus effects to the party. While there, you can also rearrange your weapons and other equipment.

The demo’s map size for the Duscae region is vast and includes both plains and dark caves. The demo is a focus on exploration, however, you’ll have the ability to take on a number of quests that will have you travel to different locations. For example, one of the story quests involves the hunting of a powerful behemoth.

Noctis will have a number of weapons at his disposal in the demo as well – each of which contains its own abilities such as “Jump” which can be seen in one of the screenshots as a traditional dragoon’s ability. There’s also times when Noctis’ eyes will glow red in color, but the reason for these occurrences remain under wraps.

Further details on these screenshots and Episode Duscae can be read in our earlier report.
