Dissidia Final Fantasy gameplay demos feature Cloud, Y'shtola and Lightning

Following up on its Closed Conference from a few days ago, Square Enix held a livestream to further detail the ins and outs of its upcoming re-imagining of Dissidia Final Fantasy for arcades.

During the hour-long broadcast, the company detailed the game’s controls – which operate similar to the PSP versions with the addition of new attacks during movement. Also new to the arcade version is the 3-on-3 battle setup, designed specifically to evoke the party system in the series proper.

The game’s summoning system is said to be extraordinary in that it comes from the bond between allies. By summoning a beast like Ifrit, you’ll draw forth another member to your 3-man team as well as bestowing buffs to each member. For example, Ifrit might provide an attack boost while Ramuh increases party speed.

We’ve pulled three of the main demonstrations from the broadcast for you below, taking a look in detail at Cloud (FFVII), Y’shtola (FFXIV) and Lightning (FFXIII).
