Final Fantasy XV Episode Duscae 2.0 update releasing in early June By Red Makuzawa on May 18, 2015 at 4:41 AM

Square Enix has announced via Twitter today that they will be releasing the 2.0 update for Final Fantasy XV Episode Duscae in early June – originally scheduled to release in late May. The update will include additional features to the combat systems, camera angle improvements, targeting and gameplay enhancements.

More information on the update is promised to come at a later date.

Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes

  • Adam Hedquist

Sweet! ^^ Have a company ever done this before? Patched a demo? I do however see this more as a BETA than a demo so for me this makes perfect sense. This’ll give them time to recieve more feedback. I think it’s great!

  • Noctis Pendragon

Never this is why they weren’t sure about it.

  • Noctis Pendragon

Early June is a nice news , we will surly get all the not so sure freatures now.

  • Tom

I like that they take feedback and improve on the game before it’s released. Not just a focus group or whatever, but they are asking almost anybody about the game. Maybe they learned this with the development of Bravely Default, they did something similar with it.

  • Iwakura

I guess they’ll fix the out of bounds glitch as well. That was a lot of fun trying to accomplish and seeing Titan and unfinished areas.

  • Sam Makova

Worth getting type 0 for the demo, and seeing how it plays now and then I get to see the improvements?

  • So pumped, I just bought a ps4, got my day one edition from gamestop, haven’t even played it yet then get to see the upgrades!

  • Kaoru La Kaoru

I’m actually looking forward to this. Haven’t had much of a reason to play Episode Duscae again for a while, so this’ll give me one.
Especially now that they’re fixing the camera. God, that was like playing Kingdom Hearts I again.

  • stevenm281

Type-0 is worth getting, demo or not. Episode Duscae was a great bonus, even with its flaws, so now that they are updating it, you’re in for one hell of a bargain!

  • stevenm281

I’m doing it at the moment to take a screenshot since they did say it will be fixed in the update.

  • Noice.

  • Alright, sorry to ruin your “happy time”, but no. This is just plain bad. Are we gonna have another survey after this, then a 3.0 patch? Can’t they do anything for themselves anymore?? Where have all the talented people gone in Square Enix?! Also, do they really trust the gaming community to tell them how to fix a game? We aren’t satisfied with anything! Whether it’s the empty environments, or the “horrible dubs” or the “lame dude-bro” party or the battle system or the camera or the story, we just don’t get enough complaining! But yeah, you know, it’s cool, just destroy Nomura’s original vision and create a game so messed up that not even it’s original creator can recognize. Games are what they are. You play them, and if you like them you keep playing them, if not you can move on to something else. I hate the fact that Square Enix have destroyed what was supposed to be a revolutionary game just so they could make it appealing to all of us.

  • Dick

This is absolutely true. It’s a placating tactic at best, or fishing for ideas at worst.

  • I hope this time it’s got magic, and more special attacks. And it shouldn’t be plopped in with another game. Just put the update on PSN. And maybe make it not in the same area.

  • Ehren Rivers

Unless something has dramatically changed since the last time the update was discussed, it is a patch to the existing demo and not a separate one. It wouldn’t be included with a game, and as an update to mechanics and system they’re unlikely to take time away from the actual game’s development to set it in a new area. Based on their previous statements, this is essentially the build of Duscae that will be playable at future gaming events such as E3, Gamescom, and TGS.

  • That’s fine. It’s free so gimmie the new battle options and what -not and hopefully this game will be out next year.

  • Krijn van Alten

O come on negative nancy, if you don’t like it, don’t play it, simple as that. I will not be suprised if you are the kind of person who first complained that SE was not listening to there fans, and now do complaining about exactly the opposite.

  • Adam Hedquist

What a party pooper….But seriously, so wanting feedback to fix problems in a game is bad now? So other companies that develop big successful games and let people play their beta builds to fix issuies and what not are full of untalented monkeys? It’s true that you can’t satisfied everyone. You are just another example of that. What do you know of Nomura’s original vision? We don’t actually know until he himself says it. Revolutionary to you maybe, to others maybe not. But…In what way is it not revolutionary anymore?

  • Andrew Ip

The “A Realm Reborn” patch was a godsend!

  • People who criticize everything don’t deserve any game.

  • Let’s do this!!! Come on, June! 🙂

  • Noctis Pendragon

Pure BS , list me even 1 thing the gamers changed in the game .
Do not play it , it is the easiest way , people keep talking in Nomura name or something , FF XV wasn’t Nomura game at E3 2013 , you should have started complaining direclty after seeing the E3 trailler.

  • Noctis Pendragon

Don’t forget to try the Noctis only glitch before they fix it : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZRfq-m6rTaY .

  • Sothe Zephyr

Oooooooo yay……cause…..i will definitely go back and…..play it some more…..oooo….so fun…… Lol nty il just go play anything else or a demo that i actually enjoy, one with substance >.>

  • Adam Hedquist

    Good for you

  • Catoblepas

  • James Stine

    No one cares.

  • James Stine

This demo is being made for tradeshows already. What are you talking about you idiot?

  • Ehren Rivers

Woah woah woah woah. No need for the idiot bit.

  • Ehren Rivers

Hold on a second. As I recall, you weren’t too appreciative of people making similar snarky comments about Lightning Returns in the months before it was released. Please, do the mature thing and simply refrain from commenting if you have no interest in a project or actively dislike it. I’d rather not make a return to the trains of people baiting each other and starting arguments for fun.

  • Sothe Zephyr

Thats very true ^ Sorry :$

  • Noctis

the wait is gonna kill me soon or later

  • I probably said this before in another article, but I really can’t wait until the full game when we’re going to be able to drive through the luxurious city wearing all black suits. It’ll look so cool!

Anyway, Episode Duscae 2.0 is like a dream come true for me, mainly because of the camera and lock-on improvements. I hate fighting those wolf things because they run off camera and I can never get a clear sight on them at all times.

  • Krijn van Alten

Then read the comment of Alex Sam Anif down here. He already starts with this intro:
‘Alright, sorry to ruin your “happy time”, but no.’

  • stevenm281

press R3 to activate the lock-on, it works great!

  • stevenm281

I don’t get it…. no demo I ever played had more substance than Episode Duscae, hell it even got more content than The Order 1866 which is a full game or should I say, playable movie.

  • stevenm281

its very kind and mature of you to acknowledge

  • Dick

    It’s an opinion. Chill.

  • Just holding R1 (or L1? I don’t know exactly which is weird) and hearing the click noise the reticule makes doesn’t do it? Hmm, that’s strange. I’ll try out R3 the next time I get on my PS4. Thanks!

  • stevenm281

no Tabata admited that it wasnt mentioned in the demo. The combo you mentioned is simply to target, its not the lock-on.

  • Mihel

I hate the fact that Square Enix have destroyed what was supposed to be a revolutionary game just so they could make it appealing to all of us.

    1) It was never meant to be a revolutionary game. It’s an action game with some RPG elements. There have been crystals, kingdoms and magic since the beginning.
    2) It has always been an appealing project. Big maps, big cities, big monsters, beautiful sceneries, pretty boys, amazing music. Everything was appealing from the beginning.

  • 1) It was revolutionary in that it is the first FF game to have so many realistic elements and story.
    2) A project becomes less appealing when the people behind it believe in it so little that they need to go out and ask for help with it. Like any of us have any idea what it takes to make a good video game. All we do is play them and then complain about them…

  • What I know of Nomura’s vision is that it is definitely NOT the Final Fantasy XV we see today…

  • There is a difference to keeping your public INFORMED on what you are doing and on development of certain games, and a whole other thing to go out asking them “what do you want us to put in the game?”.

  • MMO’s are an entirely different story.

  • So… according to you no one ever deserves to play this game?!

  • ONLY 1?! Does the word “Cindy” ring any bells?

  • Problem?

  • Krijn van Alten

Can’t you think of the answer yourself?

  • Krijn van Alten

I hope that you understand that you are the actual problem.

  • Adam Hedquist

I think you need to stop using the word ”we”. You do not speak for everyone. I respect your opinions, I don’t understand your complaints and I think you’re being a bit dramatic, but if you feel that way… fine. I’m just glad that I am not a pessimist and let this affect me as much.

  • stevenm281

we havent seen her being changed yet! They didnt confirm the change either, they just said they might try and look into making her animations less sexually explicit, but not that they would do definitely do it.

  • stevenm281

Well, I agree its not totally the same as Versus XIII as battle system goes, blood splashing, dark atmosphere, but for the story, it does look intact.

  • Nope. Your kind. Criticism is for honest use only. Pointing out at things that don’t meet up your personal tastes ‘plain bad’ doesn’t make you any different than a typical trolls. Internet has seen lots of these type. Not helpful people, aren’t they?

    P.S: You did sound ‘hypocritical’.
