Just Cause 3: First video dev diary

Avalanche studios present their first video dev diary for Just Cause 3. In “Who is Rico” we find out more about the protagonist and his new abilities.

For example, we learn that Avalanche now puts a bigger focus on Rico’s personality and his ambitions while in Just Cause 1 and 2 the game world was meant to be the real star of the show.

Players will pay more attention to what Rico does and this also explains why he not only looks sharper on current-gen, but also features more than 2500 animations. The team even used mo-cap to for more fluid movements.

The development team goes on with explaining Rico’s new features such as the ability to tether more objects with your crapping hook or having more freedom with your wing suit.

I had the chance to play Just Cause 3 during a preview-event in Hamburg and really enjoyed my time. I left the event with a big smile on my face, thinking about all the chaos I was able to create in this beautiful game world. Sadly, there are still some unanswered questions about the game’s story, rebel system and mission design.

Expect to read an updated preview at Nova Crystallis next week after our hands-on time with the game at Gamescom 2015.
