GC 2015: New attractions coming to Final Fantasy XIV Gold Saucer, including flight challenges By André Mackowiak on August 8, 2015 at 1:21 PM

Players love the Gold Saucer and the new flying mounts in the Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward expansion. As a fan of both, I wondered if we will ever see Heavensward-centered mini games being added. Imagine using your mount for a flight challenge with rings just like in the old Pilotwings games.

During our interview with Naoki Yoshida at Gamescom, the game’s Director and Producer answered:

“To stick to the Gold Saucer first: There is a big update coming in patch 3.1. A new attraction will be added, equally in size compared to Triple Triad or the Chocobo Races. It’s going to be really big.

Besides the addition of other mini games, adjustments to the MGP coins and to the rewards you will get through your coins will be made.

We even had plans for a mini game in 3.0, where you had to find rings in the game world with your flying chocobo within one minute to claim a reward. Back then we hadn’t the costs and resources to do it, but currently the level design team is working on finalizing it.

It might not happen in the Ishgard area, but it will be an instanced area like for the chocobo races, where you can use flying mounts instead.”

The full Final Fantasy XIV interview article will be released in the following days.

  • Please excuse my rudeness and I know that this doesnt belong in this article but wasn’t there supposed to be a Q&A with the FFXV devs like 5 hours ago? No news from there..?

Please fix your typos when presenting information to a public forum. I understand the rush to get it out but this makes the fans look like a bunch of idiots.

  • You are right, I should take a closer look at this. Since I am not a native speaker, some sentences seem to sound Engrish.

It’s not the way the article is written, it’s simple typos in all three articles. “Final Fantas XIV”, “Tripe Triad”

  • Thnx for the heads up – should be fixed now. The last sentence was actually pasted with the typo. Sorry for that.
