Final Fantasy XIV Patch 3.1: Dungeons & New Flying Mounts Preview

The first major post-release content patch following this summer’s Final Fantasy XIV Heavensward launch will arrive early this November. Entitled “As Goes Light, So Goes Darkness”, Patch 3.1 will see a wealth of new challenges for adventurers to attempt. Today, Square Enix shared a peek at two dungeons slated to appear: Saint Mocianne’s Arboretum and a hard mode version of Pharos Sirius. New images are below.

Saint Mocianne’s Arboretum is a wholly-new Level 60 dungeon located in the Dravanian Hinterlands, just a stone’s throw away from Idyllshire. A thriving garden left behind when the Sharlayans fled their settlement, and it appears past due for a good weed-whacking.

Meanwhile, the Kobold beast tribe has invaded the remnants of the Level 60 dungeon Pharos Sirius (Hard), a lighthouse situated in Western La Noscea. A Realm Reborn veterans will recall scaling its heights in the post-release patch A Realm Awoken, it seems the Titan-thralled were all too eager to move in and stink up the place after your last business trip.

Each of these dungeons will require you to assemble a light party (four players), with each participant having an item level equal to or greater than 170.

As a bonus, Square Enix shared new images of land mounts that will become capable of flight when the patch hits.

The development team will share more information about Final Fantasy XIV‘s Patch 3.1: As Goes Light, So Goes Darkness in the form of a new Letter from the Producer Live, which you can catch early on Sunday, October 25, 2015 at 3:30am US Pacific Time. Major topics include new information on Exploratory Voyages via an airship and a new Lord of Verminion mini-game accessible through the Manderville Gold Saucer.

Saint Mocianne’s Arboretum:

“Saint Mocianne’s Arboretum was once home to the greatest collection of flora and fauna the realm had ever known. Alas, in the wake of the Exodus it has since been abandoned, the teeming life within now roaming the halls with reckless abandon. A band of treasure hunters would pierce the heart of this leafy labyrinth in search of treasure, a treasure they claim would be a boon to Idyllshire. But will this savage garden yield fortune, or folly?”

Pharos Sirius (Hard):

“With the siren banished from Pharos Sirius, reconstruction of the lighthouse is well under way. Or rather, it was, until an order of kobolds forced workers to evacuate. The Maelstrom has been swift to plan a retaking of the tower, but time is of the essence. The kobolds’ love for explosives will surely spell destruction if the beastmen are not purged with utmost haste. Once again, Limsa Lominsa asks for your aid. Descend to the depths of the tower this time, and assist in defusing the kobold threat.”
