New gameplay scenes and details from the first chapter of Final Fantasy XV

Thanks to Game Informer, today we learn more about the first chapter in Final Fantasy XV, accompanied with many new pre-beta gameplay scenes.

As mentioned earlier, the game starts with a battle before the party goes on their big journey.

At the beginning of the game’s first chapter you will have to push the broken Regalia car to the Hammerhead gas station for quite a while. Tabata wants you to get the right feeling for the vast game world first, before quickly changing the pacing and scenes of the story.

The game will then open up, but while the team wants to encourage your spirit of discovery, Tabata mentioned that Final Fantasy XV wasn’t planned as a total free roaming world. Instead of putting the freedom aspect of the game first and leaving the players in the game world to push the story forward, the game will rather lead you with its story through the game world, allowing you enough freedom in the story’s context.

Fans don’t need to be concerned that the game is taking your hand all the time, since the connecting parts between major story elements will allow you more freedom than any other Final Fantasy before.

Chapter one includes a resort, modeled after a South Asian island, as well. The possibility to go fishing on that location is just one of the examples for side activities players can enjoy besides the main story.

During the first chapter things become more serious as Noctis and his friends hear about the incidents in their homeland.
