New trailer? I thought that was just a trailer of the VR experience.

  • D.3ND

Those Outfits at the end…….me likey.

  • Zenobia Joyner

I love the vr game to control my baby sqaure doesn’t know how happy they have made me. i’ve told them though how much i love this idea and i love prompto soooo much 🙂

  • Martian Wong

    Are they new outfits?

  • stevenm281

    yes

  • Mehmed

    and they look great.

  • Mina-P

YAAAAAS finally my noctis ouji sama in VR!!! *A* AND I get to control prompto? Plz square keep making my fujoshi dreams come true!A+++++

  • stevenm281

VR starts at 1:03, before that its a new trailer.

  • Martian Wong

I am hoping they would release the images for us to see soon.

  • badassn

So is this like a short demo that showcases the Playstation VR? I’d buy a Playstation VR if the game fully supported VR, but I won’t just to stare at Cidney’s chest for 20 minutes.

  • Krijn van Alten

Ja, ik kan ook in mijn eigen taal gaan praten, versta je er toch ook niets van.

  • stevenm281

    How is Prompto warping?…

  • Krijn van Alten

    Very likely that.

  • I don’t really need a VR mode but I guess it’ll help people get into it.

  • eternaleon

I think you aim at the points where it tells you to warp, sounds quite intriguing nonetheless.

  • He should be able to.

  • eternaleon

Now I can take car rides with Cidney with a VR perspective? Count me in!

  • stevenm281

I know how, I meant that he’s not supposed to, only Noctis can.

  • Krijn van Alten

Well, don’t be surprised if XVI will be on VR. Or XVII. At least a future FF.

  • eternaleon

Ah, this is true. Not too sure how they’re implementing this, but perhaps we’ll find out during the ATR later tonight.

  • Mina-P

    Guten tag! ^w^

  • Billy Jackson

This is evil… I’m crazy enough to buy PSVR for FF. But I’m already in debt from my Rift, with yet to be purchased controller. Plus there’s a better Playstation that we’ll all want to buy for better VR. No way. Nope. Can’t do it.

Please bring this to PC when XV makes it to steam with their future DX12 refresh!

  • stevenm281

no he shouldn’t, in past interviews they mentioned that the reason for making Noctis the only playable character was that only he could use every weapon type, only he could warp, and that party members’ AI were based on him (where he’s located on the battlefield, what is happening to him, etc.)

  • That’s fine as long as they can be played with controllers too. I’m not a VR guy.

  • badassn

I would as well, but I think this is just a short experience, like a tech demo, rather than full VR support.

  • Krijn van Alten

I mean a VR exclusive. This excusive demo is already a start.

  • Some Random Guy

I would be happy just being able to roam Eos in VR
Not really interested in the fighting mechanics they showed
Edit: Also, anyone notice the Matrix style jackets in Lucis, so fricking badass

  • Krijn van Alten

Don’t be surprised if we get a full FF (XIV or XVII) excusive on VR in the future.

  • I meant shouldn’t my bad

  • alexis

Prompto VR game is absolutely corny and tacky and f*cking adorable and I want it

  • alexis

    ALSO THE MUSIC IS DELICIOUS

  • Mehmed

He has a VR! He is able to.

  • Naw. Not gonna happen. VR only RPGs. No way.

  • Really?? Ppl are liking this garbage? Fine then, go pay another $400 just to play this! I find VR in a FF game abyssmal! It removes all element of RPG entirely and just turns it into another crappy COD-style piece of trash! If that’s what FF is turning into, I’m out!

IMO, still hyped af for FF XV, loved the trailer up until the VR stuff popped up and without that disgusting Afrojack crap! Seriously SQEX, stop trying so hard already!

  • stevenm281

I think its more the industry (Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft, etc.) that forces developers into making VR a thing.

  • alexis

    calm down jeeeez
it not much more than a souped-up VR demo, final fantasy isn’t some sacred god, it can survive one cheeky mini-game for a new “console”

  • 케빈

wow that new form of the airship/car looks so awesome

  • Limbs4wings

dubstep and final fantasy…never thought this day would come, yet here we are

  • SOMEONEWHOSDISSAPOINTED

I am a SUPER FAN of EDM but Afro’s electro sounds DISGUSTING on FFXV’s, like, any EDM music and an RPG game like FF, unless it has super futuristic game setting, does NOT match ANYTHING IN ANY SENSE, sorry Afrojack, the music killed the trailer, HORRIBLE CHOICE

  • Limbs4wings

Your taste in music is clearly still developing… when you get older your eardrums become more sensitive and less tolerant to phonic pollution.

  • SOMEONEWHOSDISSAPOINTED

Also the VR experience will get boring after the first 10 minutes, it will be dubbed as repetitive because you will only be able to control Prompto and seemingly just his signature gun, also all the shots will be looking like the same, not a variety of special blasts or weapons, but it could be a lot of fun to explore the FF world with a VR, but just exploring, that whole idea is awesome but the actual fighting will not entertain for long

Omggg could you imagine actually seeing the characters UP CLOSE THE WHOLE WORLD AND LUNA UP CLOSE AND THE VENICE LIKE PLACE .UP. CLOSE.

  • Noctis Pendragon

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FA4p6buNHEY He made one for FF VIII too .

  • Jesus Christ

LOL. I’m live for this comment section. LOL Yaaaas. Criticism is good. Keep Square Enix on its toes… that is, if they listen >_>

  • Yuntu

it`s just SE experimenting with VR, calm down lol

  • Yuntu

you are reading WAY too much into this

  • WaneMana

You don’t have to buy it…the VR that is.

  • eternaleon

People said the same about rock ‘n’ roll.

    Trailer only.

This was good. I liked the new stuff they showed. DLC clothes were decent. I just wish they only showed trailers and talked about DLC quests more than talking about the anime or the movie.

  • Zenobia Joyner

I love the outfits to and my baby prompto no words 🙂

  • Noctis Pendragon

    Those Clothes aren’t DLC …

  • Artemis Polara

I’m not really interested in the VR stuff and the dubstep didn’t really interest me but I was still amused since I just imagined Noctis and co being badass mother fuckers kicking ass in those outfits.

When I get the game, I will equip everyone who can wield guns and do drive by shootings of imperial troops. 😀

  • Limbs4wings

‘rock ‘n’ roll’ is relative, to some it’s merely an attitude, so what’s your point?

  • eternaleon

Well of course, people will have different opinions and perspectives, I was referring to the genre and how people back then labelled it as ‘noise.’ “Ah they’ll grow out of it soon.” Everyone has a different preference in music.

  • T.I. D Gama

Deze persoon (Mina P) praat gewoon Engels en gooit er random Japanse woordjes in.. zoals “ouji sama” en “yaoi” * & Ook al sprak hij/zij een andere taal (bijvoorbeeld Spaans of w/e) who the fuck cares man lol kanker doelloze comment…

  • How do you know? They look like the Royal ones that come with the collector edition of XV.

  • Patriciajcain4
  • Randy Marsh

Ha, good luck playing FFXIV with the VR. That would be a total mess and you would be kicked from every instanced party you were in.

  • Randy Marsh

Like what the trailer they showed. I won’t lie though, the dubstep isn’t my cup of tea.

  • Randy Marsh

Whoa, whoa. You’re jumping too far ahead of what we currently have, virtual reality gaming is barely in the beta stages at this point. It has at least another 5-10 years to go before it’s truly accepted as a way of playing and that’s only if the VR doesn’t wind up meeting the same fate as the Eye Toy and PlayStation Move.

  • Krijn van Alten

    I ment XVI

  • Krijn van Alten

Obviously I care. En inderdaad, je maakt een doelloos comment in mijn ogen, dus daarover zijn we het in ieder geval eens.

  • Mina-P

omg looking at your two pplz posts I think I could be drunk somehow O_o

  • Mina-P

I would gladly pay $400 for a virtual date with my husbando prince noctis

  • Mina-P
  • arcnate

its the outfits worn by the kingsglaive

  • Noctis Pendragon

No the DLC suit isn’t the same and you generally don’t show DLC costumes in a trailer without DLCs .

  • Randy Marsh

Its not the royal suit DLC, the DLC one is a regular suit with a business blazer. The one shown in the video is a coat, has longer coat tails also. The scene showing them in these outfits most likely take place around the end of the game I bet, so yeah wardrobe change for the final battle possibly…neat.

  • Haru Chan

Because Noctis wear the suit he used to wear in the VXIII days in the the treaty party… and fans fear that we won’t be seeing Noctis wear it anymore since he won’t be on treaty party but Tabata said we’ll see Noctis wear his suit somewhere on the game … So I guess this trailer prove it .. and glad to see Prompto and the other have their own ~

  • alexis

Can you be any more pretentious? Seriously, all you need is to use the word “sheep” in there somewhere.

  • Vallen

Okay, wtf is up with that music and with Noct falling in the beginning…

Good gameplay bits though. VR is totally unnecessary for this game.

  • Limbs4wings

Yes, Alexis, very pretentious indeed. Patronizing even.
Your taste is your taste but don’t forget to experiment a little with all kinds of music…you might end up finding that when music is composed of actual instruments it generally sounds better to your ears.

  • Just some dubstep they put in to get people hyped. Its not music in the game.

  • Wonder if in the game you can earn clothes or buy them without dlc then. To get Noct to keep his clothes. Maybe you gotta beat the game first.

  • Well if its really the one from versus days I’m glad missed that suit a lot.

  • 4FFAN

For me that scene where Ardyn has his foot on the throne and the Kingsglaive trailer pretty much confirms that he’s the true antagonist as I’ve been suspecting for months! And OMG the outfits for the final battle look so awesome (I suspect it’s the final battle since they’re going back to Insomnia). But I would’ve liked Noctis’ old outfit instead honestly (the one designed by Nomura).

  • 4FFAN

Well it could be, for the car. But yeah, they said it was remixed FFXV music in the ATR not the actual game’s music.

  • Maybe they’ll show all dlc clothes during e3 and another ATR for clothes you can get regularly in the game.

  • If we can keep them good.

  • stevenm281

Tabata already confirmed that there are outfits to acquire in the game, but wouldn’t say how many.

  • stevenm281

Wow, am I the only one that actually liked the music?

  • I must say that IMO XV appearances on E3 were reeeeally disappointing. I love this game as most of you do and I’m sold on it since ever, but their marketing choices are horrible! I was expecting a new story trailer, an emotional one like the one from E3 2013 instead of trailer that starts with Noctis falling from the sky (WTF!). I was expecting to hear more of Shimomura’s songs instead of this damn dub-step, and also some classic FF songs on the car radio. Maybe a new summon, maybe more about the white-hooded-guy or Gentiana, maybe more about the world or the ring magic…there’s so much things we don’t know and they keep showing us more of the same (including the songs…I barely can’t stand Somnus anymore).

  • stevenm281

you realize yesterday was merely an introduction of E3?

The more detailed content is throughout the week, there are 4 Square Enix Presents shows, 12 stage presentations (2 done by Tabata himself with unique content), and more.

  • •december

    “HIT IT….”

  • Xervath

I think (read: hope) that the music was simply a choice to spice things up for the sake of presentation…which is totally unnecessary, but hey…so be it.

The VR thing seems VERY gimmicky and – as you said – totally unnecessary.
I suppose it’s a nice thing for VR-users to try once they get hands-on, but I’d skip it, even if I did have access to PSVR.
If I could play the ENTIRE game in 1st person VR, then sure, it’d be a different story…but this felt tacky and forced.

  • Maybe just a couple to force us to buy dlc. I want clothes and weapons but I don’t wanna be paying 5 per one unless its story dlc.

  • Syafiq Khaidir

Kinda weird square enix don’t use the orchestra music when they got orchestrians at e3 this year.
And by the way VR doesnt suit FF.

  • Krijn van Alten

    Yes.

  • stevenm281

how is that forcing us? I see no need to purchase additional clothing, the default outfit are quite satisfactory, I don’t mind additonal outfits, its nice to have the ability to change clothes, but most of the time, the other outfits suck so I never felt forced to buy any DLC related to clothing.

  • I usually don’t get others either if they’re comedic or just recycled clothes from a past hero. But if its something better than what a character is default wearing I try to get it. Usually if all the characters wear uniforms I try to change them.

  • Codes McGodes

I feel like FFXV is having an identity crisis and that makes me nervous.

Also where did you get the pictures of Luna and Iedolas’ updated mugshots? I neeeed them.

  • Well, I think they should’ve aimed for making the best impressions on the conferences, which is the thing most people watch about E3, specially because they’re trying to capture the attention of new players. Just fans of the franchise will pay attention to the other 12 stage presentations.

  • BLUBBER

what do you mean exactly by “identity crisis”?

  • Codes McGodes

Well like, originally all of the trailers were super dramatic, Orchestral scores, dark imagery, somnus, etc. then they started doing the bro-trip theme. Light hearted, fun, camping with your pals, stand by me, etc. then they kind of just started jumping back and forth between those two atmospheres, and now we’ve got this bizarre dubstep trailer. It feels a little like they’re desperate to grab as many audiences as possible and I no longer have any idea of how the game is supposed to feel.

  • stevenm281

as every FF before it, it embraces drama, comedy, action (not necessarily gameplay but in cutscenes as well), adventure.

  • stevenm281

The conferences content was aimed at a global audience which is mostly gamers that skip cutscenes and only matter about gameplay.

The rest of content to be provided throughout the week will be focused for core fans of the series.

This information has been provided during an interview with Tabata.

  • stevenm281

any FP-RPG (like Elder’s Scrolls) could do it.

  • Yeah those, that’s fine, that’s what their fans want, but I don’t wanna play FP as Cloud or Lulu. I just wanna play thru a story with lots of characters.

  • stevenm281

I’m not a big fan of First Person games either

  • Justice V

I think the press conferences are generally the least watched thing by the mass public. They’re too long for the average fan/gamer/regular person to watch. Most are an hour or more and usually aren’t nearly as good as Sony’s was this year. Sometimes they get more views and interest when something amazing happens, or a new system is announced, but generally I think people just look for the trailers and write ups that come out if more than actually watching the whole thing. Most of the important and impressive stuff comes out from the individual stage demonstrations, press private screenings, or trailers and announcements that get released throughout the week. Sometimes the best stuff is released on the last day. 1st party stuff usually takes the spot light at the press conferences. Though I agree about the music I was really hoping for some awesome FF tracks performed by the orchestra for their presentation.

  • Justice V

    Think so heh.

  • Justice V

The old black dress suit designed by Nomura, or the old outfit that looks kinda like a jumpsuit with the flame on the back?

  • Justice V

Think the dlc with the collectors/deluxe is only for noctis, not the whole group. Also in this image they look like uniforms (most likely kingsglaive), as they all have armor pieces and look the same basically. Except Noct can’t see any armor on him just looks like a suit.

Also in one of the newest trailers they showed noct without his jacket on in the options/items menu but all the other guys had their normal wardrobes on. And previously they’ve shown Noct in that same menu with his jacket on. So maybe his jacket is removable as well? I’m looking forward to seeing all the alternate outfits in game or dlc. Hopefully there are some really neat ones.

  • Justice V

Same kinda goes for almost all the VR experiences coming out. With the exception of maybe RE: Biohazard since that’s actually a full game in VR and not just a snippet.

  • Justice V

Or the old VirtuaBoy, Nintendo’s old VR system.

  • Justice V

Yeah I kinda despise most FPRPG’s, mainly because I really want to see my character. However FPVR is pretty much the only way VR games really make sense. The tech demos for all the VR games where you’re playing in 3rd person but look around in VR just seem really odd and out of place.

  • Justice V

You’ve probably seen it by now, but Gamestop (or IGN) asked Tabata that same question and he pretty much said it’s kind of just a test with VR they’ve been working on and would be available for everyone who owns the game once it’s done. Most likely as free dlc for anyone who wants it later when it’s done and PS VR releases.

  • Yeah what if all clothes have an summer mode or coat off mode. Or you can swap in parts of other outfits you but to mix and match with their own unique clothes. Like wear the royal jacket with his default shorts.

  • 4FFAN

Well I did say “the one designed by Nomura”. I’m talking about the long trench coat from the versus trailers. Btw, what’s that outfit with a flame on the back you’re talking about?

  • Justice V

Well the suit he wore in the meeting with Stella was also designed by Nomura, and not the one we’re getting now. But I always disliked the original costume design for Noctis. Luckily Nomura said right from the beginning it was just a placeholder and he hadn’t finalized the design for him yet. I mean it had potential to be a decent costume once Nomura changed it around finalizing it and added/removed some parts, but overall it was pretty dull and ugly in my opinion. Then he made the deal with Roen and everything changed. I only like half of his new design too though, not a fan of the shants or boots or the weird stiching on the lower half of his jacket, but I like his shirt, glove, and the front half of his jacket.

Anyway the original design with the overcoat and short pants thing had a random stitched design on it. Guess it wasn’t really a flame, but more of curved blade like things, kind of similar to some kingdom hearts designs. I just remembered it incorrectly as a flame like thing.

Hard to see, but can kind of see it here in these

    http://media.psu.com/media/final-fantasy-versus-xiii/final-fantasy-versus-xiii-ss-69.jpg

  • Justice V

It’s possible, you could kiiinda do that in XIII-3, so it would be the next logical step. Except for the fact that it would increase programming and testing times by a lot mixing and matching each outfit to be sure they don’t get weird throughout different parts of the game (especially if the mix and match is incorporated in cutscenes).

  • A good example was in God Eater. You could mix and match weapon parts and change the pants and coat to be completely outside the set they came from. Like a coat from the start of the game and a pair of pants from the end.

  • Codes McGodes

No but seriously though. Where’d you get those Luna and Iedolas mugshots? I can’t find them anywhere.
