Watch us mess up Final Fantasy XIV's "The Rising" play

Believe it or not, it’s been three whole years since Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn began official service. Each year, around this time, a special seasonal event called “The Rising” takes place in the game that celebrates the sacrifices made in the Calamity. The Crystal Caravan, a troupe of traveling playwrights, will tell the tale of the Battle of Carteneau — where the Eorzean Alliance and Garlean Empire fought below the descending Dalamud. Through pure accident, the Warrior of Light (that’s you), is conscripted to re-enact the harrowing tale.

Like Final Fantasy plays before it, you’ll have a chance to play along with the script or mess it up based on what dialogue choices you select. In the video below, we show it all — even a visit from our good friend the Wandering Minstrel. (Skip to the play at 12:36, if you prefer.)

You can check out The Rising seasonal event in-game now until September 12th, 2016. Rewards include special fireworks and furnishings, as well as a Wind-up Krile and Dress-up Y’shtola minion. We’ve also got a summary of the latest Letter From the Producer Live — which detailed Patch 3.4 Soul Surrender, scheduled to be out on September 27th, 2016.
