Kingdom Hearts 2.8 HD Final Chapter Prologue supports 4K on PS4 Pro, more from Nomura

Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue will support PlayStation 4 Pro at launch. We’ve known this since TGS but director Nomura was keen to mention it again in a new interview along with other developments in the series.

Speaking with Dengeki PlayStation, Nomura once again apologized for the launch delay of Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue – citing the proximity of neighboring titles. As the prologue to Kingdom Hearts III, Nomura really wants fans to play it. He says you’ll be able to enjoy deeper action going from KH 0.2 to KH III.

On the packing of Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 through 2.8, he notes the poses of the main characters go from sitting, standing up, walking and the changing background scenery over time. This points to the final chapter with Kingdom Hearts III. Nomura was really pumped up to present the package art for 2.8 at the TGS venue.

Regarding music, Nomura says KH 2.8‘s theme song was arranged at a good time as Utada Hikaru had resumed work. KH III‘s theme song remains undecided.

KH 2.8 will also support Sony’s new PlayStation 4 Pro at 4K resolution.

New information on Kingdom Hearts III will come following the release of 2.8, though the timing is still pending. Nomura’s already planning various things for the series’ 15th anniversary.

Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue is due out on January 12 in Japan, followed by North America and Europe on January 24, 2017.
