Final Fantasy XV is off to a strong start in the UK, landing itself right behind Final Fantasy XIII as the second-fastest selling game in the series’ history. According to Gfk Chart-Track and UKIE, physical unit sales of the game are estimated to have topped out around 115,000 – 135,000. For comparison, FFXIII launched at 170,000 – 180,000 back in 2010.
Despite this success Final Fantasy XV wasn’t able to grab top spots on the chart, losing overall to FIFA 17. VideoGamer reports a massive 79% of launch week sales were of the PS4 version with only 21% on Xbox One. It remains unclear how digital sales may have factored into this.
Last week Square Enix announced they’d reached a 5 million units in both combined physical shipments and digital sales making Final Fantasy XV the fastest-selling game in the history of the series.
