Final Fantasy XV Episode Gladiolus DLC due out March 28; Prompto DLC in June By Erren Van Duine on January 31, 2017 at 4:18 AM

Square Enix revealed plans for their next round of downloadable content focusing on Final Fantasy XV. Beginning February 21, fans can download a special Booster Pack as part of the game’s Season Pass. These items will net Noctis and his party special outfits that grant temporary invincibility.

These suits can be used for 30 minutes before needing a full 24 hours to recharge.

The first round of episode DLC is scheduled for March 28, when Episode Gladiolus takes the stage. Gladiolus is featured as a playable character. Cor Leonis will also make an appearance. Additionally, Square Enix confirmed Episode Prompto will be available sometime in June.

    PLEASE BE EXCITED!!!!!!

  • Silvertongue

    Is this FREE? or not?

  • Booker Dewitt

IIRC Part of the season pass only.

  • Invictus

FINALLY. A story DLC that will improve the FFXV experience. So looks like I’ll be playing again this MARCH!

  • Ryuke

No. It’s part of the season pass. If you have the season pass you’ll be able to just download it. If not, you’ll need to purchase the DLC separately (or buy the season pass).

  • Third World Tristan

    Tabata, GTFO.

  • stevenm281

Wasn’t Episode Ignis supposed to come out before Episode Prompto?

Does that mean that his episode will release in April or May, or that its delayed?

  • stevenm281

OMG, I just realized that the Superhero themed outfits are based on the new Power Rangers movie, lol.

  • •december

    Squeeeeeeee!!! I’m so excite!!

  • •december

OMG STOPP PLEASE I’m too hyped, and I thought this too!!!
Time will tell, I don’t mind if its soon after or later!
    But the hype is surging

  • •december

    MAGITEK EXOSUIT LMFAO!!
This will be all kinds of hilarious, I cannot wait

  • stevenm281

I think Late March, early May, and late June would be great timing!

Then in mid-July, we get FF12 HD.

But lets not be too overhyped, I was super excited for the FF 30th anniversary ceremony and they showed no trailers.

I’m expecting at least a 5 hours story for each episode, but I’m not sure they will deliver…

  • Invictus

Gladio / Iris vs Gilgamesh holy shit. Hoping that this won’t be an hour long DLC lol

  • Krijn van Alten

Can someone fill me in a little on what the actual content is of all these episodes? Is it just a new playable character, and some new costumes, or is it more, like new story, dungeon(s) and shit?

  • •december

Not new characters, they centre around the protagonist’s, Prince Noctis, 3 closest companions: Gladiolus, Ignis & Prompto. In other words, it’s new story/background content from the brother’s perspective; so far we have only played FFXV from Noctis’ perspective.

There will be new items and new areas to explore in each episode, that you can use in the main game (also possibly venture out into, with new areas). This area we’re getting looks a lot like the gorge connecting Cape Caem and Lestallum. At this moment in time I’m convinced it’s there – Also the possibility of other areas too, for this Episode.

Episode Ignis and Episode Prompto are likely to follow this pattern too, even so far as possibly Aranea, Iris, Cor Leonis episodes in the making too. (Luna’s name came up too, but so far officially it’s just Gladiolus, Ignis & Prompto episodes, for those who got Season Pass)

  • •december

I can wait for FF12, I mean my hype is definitely for new FFXV.
I’m returning to the chocobo festival too, because I discovered some secrets hehe.

  • •december

From the sounds, one or all of the episodes are likely to be about 4-6 in game Chapters in length minimum. But who knows. I reckon Prompto’s might be the biggest.

  • stevenm281

My best friend and I I actually had 0 fun with the carnival, waste of resources if you ask me, but I’m glad you’re enjoying it.

  • heavenlybodyknight

    You gtfo.

  • Invictus

biggest and probably the most emotional one yet!

  • Vallen

I could be wrong, but that episode Gladio pic looks like he goes down into that canyon that was previously inaccessible and only seen while driving over a bridge.

  • Staci Toner

I hope so through the whole game I was hoping we would fall in there at some point. I even used the oob glitch to get down there it’s really huge in there. It was all buggy tho. If that’s what this place is I. The pictures it looks so cool

  • •december

I called this months ago, but I’m highly certain of this too.
I call it the gorge connecting Cape Caem to Lestallum.
Others are calling it the canyon, I can’t wait for an official title tbh

  • stevenm281

My main worry is that they will probably add an Extra or DLC menu at the title screen so that we select the Episode to play, similar to how we used Special for the carnival.

I’d rather they unlock the content into the main game, like the Assassin Creed series does with their DLC.

  • demishock

IIRC, it’s called Taelpar Crag, according to one of Vyv’s sidequests.

  • Justice V

I was waiting the whole game to get the airship so I could fly through it. My number 1 disappointment in the game was that I couldn’t.

  • Justice V

Prompts was probably easier to make. I’m guessing prompto’s will be him trying to run around Niffleheim in a gears of war style shooter. Ignite I hope they are still taking the Metal Gear/Tenchu stealth and assassin style gameplay. But feel like that’s such a big departure from everything else the game already has that it might take longer.

  • Justice V

Hopefully prompto’s brings in his dad and explains their connection. Prompts having to kill his dad would be great.

  • Justice V

Can’t wait to play in the exosuits. Only being able to use for 30 mins kinda stinks though. Hopefully only the stat boost lasts 30 mins but can actually wear the suits indefinitely.

  • •december

I hope the Exosuits make it impossible to die in the Type-F Regalia.

  • •december

Chocobo Moogle Carnival is for a limited time only, this isn’t.

  • •december

The rest of Eos isn’t complete.
That’s the one reason you can’t fly from Lucis to Altissia.
Also, they put this passport nonsense (to gain access to Accordo) in FFXV, lmao. Hope there isn’t one for Niflheim.

  • •december

    Did you do everything?

  • •december

It’s interesting that Episode Ignis might come out last, instead of Episode Prompto. I always thought Episode Prompto might be the biggest, he has the most explaining to do, also he disappeared the longest in game, and had some huge reveal in mostly unknown territory (Gladio’s DLC mostly takes place in Taelpar Crag/Aftermath of the Astral War area already/Ignis in Altissia)

  • stevenm281

Still, they never included DLCs in the main campaign of previous titles so thats why I’m worried, they usually include them as separate entity, I hope it won’t be the case.

  • stevenm281

Probably not, but from what I’ve played, 2 hours, nothing was exciting: I don’t do chocobo races, I don’t do fishing, I don’t like running around to find chocobo chicks, I can’t get into taking pictures of various stuff, the shooting place wasn’t fun either, dancing with the mascots was totally out of character for Noctis, etc.

But that doesn’t surprise me, I never really enjoy those sorts of events in MMOs either.

The only thing I enjoyed was that Carbuncle was my companion and I wish he would be more present in the main game, other than being summoned only on Easy Mode.

I play games for their story, not sidequests, not post-game content, I just want a badass, epic, and long ass story. As I said in my review, the best ratio of a game for me is 75% story, 25% other content.

  • stevenm281

While that is what I wish for, I fear it will be 1 to 2 hours episodes, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed that for once, Square Enix will surprise me positively.

  • Krijn van Alten

Any idea if we will ever see Solheim?

  • stevenm281

I really doubt it, their idea of Eos was too big for what they could do with it, which is why we can’t even explore the whole Lucis, Accordo, Tenebrae, and Niflheim, all kingdoms present in the story of the main game.

Solheim wasn’t even mentioned in the game so chances are quite slim.

  • Altissha Caelum Morningstar

The season pass holders will probably get longer as they have the booster+ set. Glad I got the pass.

  • Altissha Caelum Morningstar

    How rude and disrespectful.

  • Third World Tristan

The lies and shitty game design of that hack are rude and disrespectful. There will come a day of judgement, once the dust settles and more people start to take their revenge on this fool with their wallets.

  • stevenm281

    *facepalm*

  • Justice V

I only ever died once and thats cuz I flew straight into the ground on purpose. Otherwise it’s pretty hard to die in it when landing is automatic.

  • •december

In flashbacks of future story update patches – also maybe even possible in Episode Gladio – Solheim was a nation that was destroyed a lont time ago prior to the events of Final Fantasy XV, there’s a little history on it in the FFXV Official guide I believe

  • •december

We shall know from the GB size.
I’m hoping the first Episode DLC is 15GB-30GB in size, that would be sufficient.
