SINoALICE announced for smartphones; directed by Yoko Taro By Wassim Mokhtar on February 16, 2017 at 3:04 AM

Square Enix has announced SINoALICE for iOS and Android devices. Set to launch in Japan in spring 2017, the game is a collaboration effort between creative director and writer Yoko Taro, famously known for the NieR and Drakengard series, and developer Pocket Laboratory.

Yoko Taro aims to produce a “unique and rich world” with an original story for SINoALICE. Below is the text featured in the announcement trailer:

Do you remember? That story read to you when you were little. A story of a beautiful princess and strong hero.

But we’re ignorant. Even now, the girls still wander about.

This is the “Library,” the imprisoned world, a place bound by the story’s never-ending cycle.

Gathered are the characters of the story. These girls only have one wish. To resurrect the “author.”

For each darkness held by these characters, each has a desired future.

What kind of story is the conclusion of the girls that wish for the resurrection of the creator…?

If you’re seeking to get your hands on the upcoming mobile title, pre-registration is now available to apply over at the game’s official website. Players will acquire the following in-game bonuses based on the number of pre-registrations:

  • 10,000 pre-registrations – 20 Magic Crystals
  • 30,000 pre-registrations – 40 Magic Crystals
  • 50,000 pre-registrations – 50 Magic Crystals
  • 70,000 pre-registrations – “Dummy Flying Dragon” Magic Tool

  • Should I just throw away my ps4? Are phone games the future?

  • Stonespear

Maybe when battery life is good enough.

  • Para-Medic

I constantly say to myself, “I have these consoles, I have this PC! Why would I play phone games?”

… but man, between Granblue and F/GO it’s always been tempting to just try. Now Yoko Taro is getting in on it too, and I dunno how much longer I can last before I’m an empty husk on the sofa with a phone in my hand and my bank empty from Gacha.

  • Stonespear

I don’t have a phone. If I bring you food, can you share the sofa and games?

  • Yuntu

Many SE games are extremly fair designed and give you regular free stuff to roll the Gacha. So your bank account should survive :p

  • stevenm281

play while plugged in, problem solved

  • I’m poor. And i like sitting in my house playing on a bigger screen than a phone. I just wish they’d stop making so much phone exclusive.

  • No gameplay footage whatsoever… can we expect a fully playable RPG, like the Chaos Rings games?

  • Noneofyourbusiness

Interesting. I’ve heard that the original idea for NieR was a story about escaped fairy tales, and that’s why so many of the characters and monsters still have fairy tale names.
