Final Fantasy XIV players prepare for the Unending Coil of Bahamut, out in Patch 4.11 tomorrow

Final Fantasy XIV‘s Patch 4.11 arrives tomorrow, and with it comes a new trial called the Unending Coil of Bahamut. Rounding up the final bosses from the Binding Coil of Bahamut — recall those where the three raid tiers to release during the A Realm Reborn patch series in 2013-2014 — this duty pits you against all three at once.

Propped up as the most difficult fight in the game yet, producer/director Naoki Yoshida shared in the latest Letter from the Producer Live broadcast that it deserved it’s own difficulty level, above “Hard” and “Savage.” It’s called “Ultimate” and you can see the team demo a glimpse of the encounter with god-mode enabled so that they could show the encounter beyond a few brief seconds.

Intended for the hardcore raiders who have likely finished progression on The Deltascape (Savage), this trial will also be the longest yet — so much so that the duty timer has been extended beyond what is normally set for Savage-tier difficulty raids. Like with much of Final Fantasy XIV’s hardest content, one mistake can spell disaster for a raid group, and the Unending Coil of Bahamut is no different.

That being said, Yoshida shared that the team will be reviewing feedback on the trial from those daring enough to attempt it.

Better start working on a plan to handle that Twisters/Conflagration combo…
