    It’s already been a year O_O

  • Vallen

    Went by fast, eh?

  • Vallen

At this point I’d like a roadmap of 2018 updates of what to expect. Extra surprises will also be welcomed lol.

  • Mona Shan

Yup! Although I really enjoyed playing Prompto and Gladio’s DLC, I hope that they work on the actual story at some point

  • Codes McGodes

I hope they’re not going to only add one feature from that player survey. Literally I wanted everything on it.

  • alef321

    Episode Vyv LET’S GO!

  • stevenm281

Tabata already confirmed at Gamescom that the winner was Ardyn, and that they have so much to tell about him that it wont be through a DLC, but rather either a movie, a new game or a manga.

As for the second winner, it was Lunafreya’s activities, and Tabata is thrilled to make a DLC for her.

    The rest… we shall see.

  • Krijn van Alten

The best news I hope for: ‘we will end to make shitty XV DLC anymore’.

  • MajoraMan28

Would be funny if they announced a Versus DLC that explains what Noctis went through in his 10-year slumber.
Honestly, people shit on this game, but I bet 90% of them never returned to it after the first batch of updates. This game has become better and better (if you ignore the cringy stuff like the Cup Noodles propaganda, the bad soundtrack in Episode Gladio, and the weird Assassin’s Creed DLC). The game has great potential to become an excellent FF by the end of its service, even if I don’t approve how S-E is handling this.

  • Dod

Maybe we’ll see its full potential in 2 years, as a complete game in a .torrent form 🙂

  • Like pokemon snap but with daemons

  • Codes McGodes

Hm… interesting. I….hope they change their mind on that. This ridiculous multiverse is part of the reason FFXV failed so hard, and throwing ANOTHER movie or manga into the mix is not going help it. I’d much rather see a DLC episode.

I mean god how much more could they tell about him? I just wanna see his fall from grace, and only because he teased it in the game. I don’t think a whole entire game is necessary.

Agree on Luna though. She desperately needs more development.

i want add Niflheim map i hate they cut this map and replace train event Altissia to Gralea.

  • CallMeGod

If you want 90% of the people who bought the game to return back to play the DLC maybe the game shouldn’t be incomplete and garbage. Who want to waste their time again on a game that suck balls when they’re are better games release way better than FF15.

  • NoctLightCloud

“Topics will include the player survey of new content players would like to see”. Wait, I thought Comrades was already the result of the survey and that that survey was burried in the cemetery besides many other ideas such as the Prompto VR photograph simulator (which no one wants, really)? I must’ve been living under a rock… I’ll definitely watch that ATR.

  • Diego Pinheiro

I hope they show us too Comrades next update, the new roadmap and hopefully a 2nd season pass. FFXV is now the game that I played the most on Ps4, surpassing my 200 hours of Dragon Age Inquisition. The game have flaws but have good things too. And what is good in the game is very good.

  • Justice V

The assassin’s creed dlc was actually surprisingly good heh.could have been better if it was slightly more subtle but using it as a mini adventure with AC-ish mechanics against Loqi was cool.

  • Justice V

I disagree. The multi media platform made me enjoy the game much more. Would have beencool if everything was all in one game, but of course that would have been unlikely to happen. So barring a bunch of games expanding the story including extra story in anime/movie/manga is a great way to do it. I liked how the Type-0 manga added a lot to my experience of the game as well.

    Oh hello!
    Comrades, it is time!
    FOR HEARTH AND HOME!

  • •december

What did you think of Comrades?
There was a lot of story there!

  • •december

    Excite!~

  • •december

    this… is… ingenious!

  • •december

I agree but just wanna say Gladio’s soundtrack was kinda cool. Its true the gimmicky stuff was a little dumb but Final Fantasy has always been about gimmicky advertising stuff, good thing you don’t have to participate in all the extra stuff

  • •december

Comrades was announced way before the game released November 29th 2016.
I’m surprised how many people still don’t know that, a year later!

  • •december

Comrades is the best DLC we’ve had so far.
Episode Ignis is still yet to come.

  • Codes McGodes

I’ll put it this way. I don’t mind multimedia tack-ons if it isn’t essential plot/world/lore building material (such as On The Way to a Smile, Reminiscence, or Brotherhood), and they usually aren’t because they’re usually created as an afterthought. But I shouldn’t have to read a manga or watch a movie to have a basic grasp on what’s going on in the game’s story (such as having to watch Kingsglaive, or this potential history lesson with Ardyn). Could you imagine watching Titanic and they just skipped the part where the boat hits the damn iceberg, and you found out later that that whole event was illustrated in a graphic novel?

Regardless, I don’t see how keeping it all in one game was unlikely anyway. They’ve managed to do that with the other fourteen games in the series. Nearly every video game on the market manages to do it. And it’s not like the game or the Multiverse was brimming with story content. FFXV alone only has about 2.5 hours of cutscenes (not including side conversations), which is significantly less than any other entry in the series. Kingsglaive, likewise, only covers a single event: The Niflheim invasion. I imagine when this was playable it was probably a couple hours long. But cutscene-wise, maybe 30-40 minutes of story footage tops. The rest is all padding and spectacle, added specifically to the movie so they could make it a full feature. There’s absolutely no reason Kingsglaive couldn’t have been in the game.

Brotherhood I don’t mind so much being separate from the game because you don’t really NEED to watch it. You can make it through the game just fine and understand the characters for who they are without seeing what sort of antics they got up to during their childhood, so Brotherhood is like an added bonus for fans of the series. Or promotional material. Or both. It doesn’t provide any crucial details, but even so, there’s also only about an hour’s worth of content within it. Crafting up five flashbacks and placing them somewhere in the game wouldn’t have taken that much effort, especially considering how many assets they could have re-used. And likewise, A King’s Tale could have easily been covered in a single flashback of Noctis’ childhood. Again, not that A King’s Tale is in any way essential to the story, I’m just saying it could have fit into the game as well.

  • Codes McGodes

I remember when they announced they were making “an avatar system” due to “fan demand” when literally no one was asking about multiplayer. Comrades was very much a business decision, and tbh probably a very good one. It will continue cashflow to support content updates for the base game.

  • Diego Pinheiro

Totally true. I enjoyed the first two episode but they were very short. The main story of them at least.

  • Games Das

Busy playing AC:Origins,Shadow of War and BOTW.Sorry,FFXV.You have been uninstalled since a long time ago from my PS4.

  • Noctis Leonhart Strife

The AC DLC was one of the worst things this game ever did, I wish I’d never played it.

But they spent money on useless things instead of investing in content in the game, mostly cut-scenes and arranging chapters with rushed scenarios.

  • •december

    Hello Friend!
I love LOVE AC:Origins and Breath of the Wild as I’m playing them too,
but I gotta say still a huge fan for FFXV, especially since Comrades expansion
…Ep Ignis is on the way and 2018 looks even more promising!

  • •december

The name comrades was something else
but i’m saying everyone like me who knew about/got season pass,
    We knew this was coming!
😀 Nobody asked for it, not even me, but it came out better than I expected

  • MajoraMan28

It fitted his brute nature, but as a FF game with a classic-oriented aesthetic, in terms of music, it’s preety off-putting how they chose to go with this style.

  • MajoraMan28

Actually, they invested in some of that content too. It just isn’t finished yet.

  • CRIMSON-XIII

how the hell did you install BOTW on ps4???

  • Games Das

Bad trolling attempt.Better luck next time.

  • Mona Shan

Actually I haven’t finished playing Comrades yet, but whatever it is.. it’s just not the same 🙁 I wanted to explore Tenebrae but nope :/

  • Justice V

Well technically Final Fantasy IV had a sequel game, X/X-2, XII had 3 games, FFVII had 4 games plus movie and animes, XII had revenant wings, etc. Some of those were obviously distant after thoughts, some came from the original game not being able to fit in everything they wanted originally so they put them into the sequels/prequels. Having Sequel or prequel games aren’t much different from splitting the content into other mediums except that the other mediums are usually more direct for the sole purpose of the bits they wanted to add. Superfluous things like A Kings Tale, or even platinum demo I don’t really even count because while they have minor connections to the actual game they have no real bearing on any of the story except that Regis was a kinda dad who took care of his kid. Non essential multi-media add ons are the kinds that I actually don’t ike hehe.

I don’t think Kingsglaive was necessary to understand the story of XV, just like Brotherhood wasn’t either. It added a lot of depth to Regis, the ring/old kings, and Luna, but other than that the events of it that happened outside the experience of the main characters was fine as it was handled in the game. The reason it’s unlikely it would have fit into the sole game was because of the structure of how they made the game. Original goal was for a multi part game with the invasion taking up a pretty big portion of the first game. They could have shortened it and just the events of kingsglaive into the game and switched Nyx for Noctis, but at what cost? They had to cut back on Tenebrae being explorable and Niffleheim being explorable in order to finish in time, adding an entire theoretically explorable city that starts off exquisite and ends up in ruins most likely would have taken a ton of resources and time. Not to mention their whole insistence on no load screens from location to location. They could have chopped it up into small cinematics and stuck them in the game, but would that really have been preferable? To spend 20-30 minutes just watching Noctis go through and escape Insomnia while holding your controller? Maybe, but I dunno I think it worked in this case better as an outside movie showing events that happened outside the main game view.

The Major problem with the game was the choice to try to stick to mainly Noctis’s perspective of all events unlike pretty much every game in the series previously. They also didn’t even stick to it completely with the scene of the Niff throne room right after victory over Insomnia and quick cut aways to the shield falling on Insomnia. Had they chosen not to do that I’d probably agree more on the fact that there should have been way more cutscenes and exposition given to the events happening outside of Noctis’s view. Using your example if a movie involving the Titanic was being shown from the point of view of one passenger who got kicked off the boat, or knocked out in the boat and woke up after the ship sank it’d be fine to not have seen it, but have that character deal with the aftermath. That’s pretty much how The Walking Dead started, Rick wakes up after the world goes to hell and we never really see how it happens, until the spin off show and even then it’s in a completely different part of the country. It’s a story telling choice, not always the best one, but it’s a choice heh.

I DO however wish there were a few more cutscenes in the game in general, as well as flashbacks between Noctis and his friends/family to add to the bond they had. Even brotherhood wasn’t really enough of that for me, though it did help. They took the criticism of FF games being too cinematic heavy in game to the extreme and cut back way too much on them.

  • Codes McGodes

Well, with regards to those sequels you mentioned, that’s different. FFX-2 was clearly an afterthought. It’s a continuation of an already complete story. You don’t need FFX-2 to complete the experience of FFX (in fact you’re better off without it but I digress). But it doesn’t fill in any gaps intentionally left from the original story; it’s a separate game all together. Kingsglaive is different because it was literally a section cut from the game and repurposed into a movie. A King’s Tale, I agree, is a fluff piece that doesn’t add anything to the game or the universe. Kingsglaive is really the only piece of the multiverse I take issue with I guess. And I really just don’t buy that it didn’t fit in the game. It was like, literally the first thing they started working on 10 years before the game’s release. How many years passed before we finally saw something that WASN’T the Insomnia invasion? I just can’t imagine that after 5-6 years, they never completed that one section. Also there’s nothing implying that Insomnia had to be open world like the rest of the game. Considering the city would have been locked off post-invasion, it would actually make more sense to have a structured gameplay setting guiding Noctis from point A to point B. I mean it is an invasion after all, so he wouldn’t really have time to do any sidequests or exploring. I imagine it was initially a 2-3 hour opening. That’s enough time for a few bosses (Aranea and Glauca were definitely bosses at one point), and the introduction of the central characters and antagonists (Iedolas, Regis, Noctis & co., Luna/Stella, Ravus, Ardyn, Glauca, Aranea), and a few segments of gameplay weaving it all together. Dad dies, Noctis escapes, the tone is set.

Yes, they did cut out a ton of Niflheim in order to get the game out the door, but tbh that’s mostly poor planning on their part. Only Square-Enix could have ten years to finish something and still run out of time (I’m still hoping those sections will be added back in). Also I agree that the whole “Noctis’ perspective” angle was a bad story-telling decision, but it was also kind of bs tbh. There aren’t many, but there are multiple cutscenes that take place nowhere near Noctis. So clearly they still broke their own rule, and I wish they’d just told a normal story like they always have. I agree that the game’s biggest issue is lack of storytelling. The content is mostly all there, but bad bad storytelling. And to your point about Kingsglaive not being necessary, it was absolutely necessary. It was the call to action that set the story in motion. The invasion of his homeland, the death of his father, the treachery of the empire, the theft of the crystal, how on earth could they have let all of that happen completely off screen? I’m sure you saw how poorly they integrated the events of Kingsglaive into that one 40-second montage when the invasion is supposed to take place. Random dudes fighting, a dead guy that’s probably the King, the Diamond Weapon from FFVII for some reason? No dialogue, no sound effects, just an uncomfortable ambient music and an assortment of totally random characters and explosions. Anyone who didn’t see the movie is not gonna know what the bloody hell just happened. One of my friends certainly didn’t and I had to explain the events of Kingsglaive to him.

  • stevenm281

yeah the Kingsglaive scenes in the game were poorly implemented, rushed even.

  • Krijn van Alten

But it’s not. I mean It’s a Switch game, so how on earth you play it on the PS4?

  • stevenm281

He never said he was playing specifically on PS4.

Two different sentences, one refering to the games he’s playing lately, without any indication of platforms, the other, specific to the uninstallation of FF15 from his PS4 HDD.

    Reading comprehension can do wonders!

  • stevenm281

Pay attention to his two unrelated sentences, nowhere does he mention BOTW on PS4.

The sentence related to the games he’s playing of late doesn’t mention platforms, and one person can own many. The sentence regarding to his PS4 was merely about the uninstallation of FF15.

  • stevenm281

I don’t think it was an attempt to troll you.

I believe its a reading comprehension issue.

  • CRIMSON-XIII

i know man. it was a joke.

  • stevenm281

Then maybe adding a “lol” somewhere would have made the joke more obvious, because the way I read it now, it’s a question that seem genuine.

  • CRIMSON-XIII

i thought the fact that zelda wasnt on ps4 gave it away, some ppl have heard that mario and zelda are nintendo and not sony playstation, not everyone. but some ppl.

  • stevenm281

Some people hack platforms, it could have been something you were hinting at, and wanted to clarify.

I heard some people installed emulators on their PS3 through Linux to play SNES and such.

  • Justice V

Yeah. The kingsglaive montage there wasn’t in the original release, got added in last minute. If you played before whichever patch it was added in it was a bit less jarring. (Pretty sure it was the day 1 patch though). Was kinda funny they added it in because people were complaining about all the kingsglaive stuff happening out of game, but implimented it so poorly that it just knda made it worse than if it wasn’t in at all heh. If that montage wasn’t in and we had been left in the dark more like Noct and friends as planned it probably would have flowed better story wise, or could have been added in at a later point as news footage or a retelling of events by Cor/Ravus/Luna/random Kingsglaive Survivor.

Dunno why they scrapped Insomnia. Maybe they felt compelled to keep it open and couldn’t deliver. They started KG 3 years before the release of the game so they knew relatively early on they were scrapping it and wasn’t just cuz they ran out of time. Would be interesting to finally learn the real reason. Maybe it felt too similar to the start of FFX.

But yeah agree on everything else heh.

  • NoctLightCloud

As we’d say in German: a sack of rice fell over in China.

  • Games Das

    Same to you.

  • Games Das

Thank you for the explanation.Only if everyone were that mature to read and understand…

  • NoctLightCloud

I agree! It was better than expected.
