World of Final Fantasy Meli-Melo revealed for iOS/Android

Square Enix has announced World of Final Fantasy Meli-Melo will be headed to iOS and Android smartphones in Japan by the end of the year. Directed by Hiroki Chiba and produced by Shinji Hashimoto, Meli-Melo is developed in partnership with Drecom. A free-to-play model will be used, so you can expect the usual trappings regarding micro-transactions.

The game features an entirely new story set in the world of Valgaran, and is told in the format of a manga. The battle system will also be modified in a way that up to six characters can be stacked on top of each other, and there will be cooperative elements introduced through on line functionality. Expect cameos from Final Fantasy characters throughout the series, just as in World of Final Fantasy.

World of Final Fantasy also heads to PC via Steam this week.
