During a live broadcast this morning, Square Enix shared the opening movie for Dissidia Final Fantasy NT – created by the company’s Visual Works studio. In it, we see the forces commanded by Spiritus and Materia — two warring gods — clash in a fierce battle.

Dissidia Final Fantasy NT will release on January 30th, 2018 for PlayStation 4.

Holy hell that moved wayyy to fast

  • Sarif

Eh, trailer was extremely lacking in compassion to the original. Cuts are all over the place, it was short and I’m pretty sure they reused some scenes from old game.

  • Clawson_J

I think the OP was just a tease, guess we have to wait for the final game to actually see the whole opening, looks really good though.

  • Noctis

    thought the same lol

  • One Eco

    That… was fast
I liked those subtle references to the original Dissidia opening and OMG, Shantotto destroyed Ultimecia and CoD’s tag team as if it was nothing x’D

  • Codes McGodes

I’m with everyone else that it was too fast/too many cuts. But I’m also disappointed they have all 15 heroes, but only 10 of the villains. 😡

  • eijin_kiver

would be great if Ardyn available 🙂

  • Zero_mask

needs tweeks, too quicky character screen time. not able to see any of it.

  • Needs some more villains in the game. The sides are uneven.
The jecht vs squall and Zidane part was good. Sad Cloud didn’t get in much of it. I like Cloud vs Sephiroth and Garland.

  • He’d be the same style as Noctis tho

  • Randy Marsh

Was alright, just wish they would have made an opening that they could have used the vocalized version of Massive Explosion imo. For some reason Tidus kicking Vaan’s Pyroclasm was extremely cool and satisfying to see.

  • Vallen

I like it, hope the game will have more CG scenes in the story and not just this op 🙂

There is another video “trailer” with the intro of Noctis to the world of Dissidia

  • Noneofyourbusiness

I don’t know why they don’t add villains from XIII-XV.

  • Miqote

Are they half assing this like FFXV release? XI – XV don’t have villians shown here. I mean I know there’s future updates but man…

  • One Eco

That’s why Episode Ardyn will help a lot when Square creates his moveset. If they got him in, of course.

  • One Eco

I don’t think XI will have a villain rep in the near future (all the villains of the game aren’t popular at all. The most recognisable is Shadow Lord and, for XI players, the most popular is Lady Lilith)

  • Luke Watts

If you want to make this video vastly more enjoyable. Go to 0:35 of this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0fOIRnKrskQ. Hit play on NT Video and then play on said linked video.

  • Fay Knights

Oh heavens, Lightning vs. Sephiroth<3 Also Noctis and Light finaly meet! I already gave up on that ever happening. Dissapointing there wasn't much of Squall, though…

  • Luke Watts

thought the exact same thing.. was very odd

  • Randy Marsh

Well obviously it will have to be the Shadow Lord due to his heavy involvement in the story.

However when it comes to popularity, Lady Lilith holds a lot of that for western players only, while more of the Japanese fanbase for XI likes both Kam’lanaut and Eald’narche more. Iirc both brothers were originally considered by Takahashi for Dissidia 012.

  • MajoraMan28

This game feels extremely lazy, with not even half the effort put into the previous games. Only the graphics look nice, but even the original OP was miles better than this.
Acknowledging AC is unforgivable to me as well. Sure, Cloud in Dissidia followed his personality from the KH-era and beyond, which in itself was already out of character, but at least they made him look decent with his classic look. AC isn’t even canon to the remake they are launching soon, so I think this should have been left to die already.

Better than the ugly design they kept for Sephiroth lol Yoshi’s design looks good on paper, don’t get me wrong, if it weren’t for Yoshi we wouldn’t even have Cloud or Sephiroth ( or Vampire Hunter D lol ) but after being so used to Nomura’s take throughout the years the Yoshi design is ugly as fuck. His tiny oddly designed Spaulders and the weird cloths and bright jewels dangling all over him are 100% unnecessary.. His Dissidia and what looks to be his FFVII Remake design is the absolute worst Sephiroth costume they could’ve gone with, and I really hope they change him back to his AC/Crisis Core look for the Remake. Cloud looks almost exactly the same but modern, Barret too minus the inclusion of sun glasses, Sephiroth should get the same treatment!

  • That’s fine. But to me he’s not much of a villain. He’s got a little class and style, but not on the level enough to make him unforgettable. He’s gotta be there tho since there are no other villains in the game that stand out. All the rest of them are tossed aside quickly and turned into ghouls and demons and stupid shit.

  • Forced DLC maybe?

  • Sorry, you just can’t beat OG Dissidia’s opening.

  • AC is canon to the remake coming out. What do you mean lol If you don’t like AC then fine, to each their own. But the only one denying that its a sequel and still remains to be one is people who dont like the movie. If anything, the remake will be alternated to better accommodate FF7CC so they can finally make FF7 game that picks up after DoC.

  • Miqote

Great points, but man do people REALLY give a damn about the Cloud of Darkness? Her regular form wasn’t even in FFIII. She’s a no name character too but they threw her in there.

  • MajoraMan28

They confirmed the expanded universe of FFVII, aka AC+CC+etc, is not canon to the remake continuity. They would do their own thing with the mythos.

  • Codes McGodes

I agree it always should have been Xande. But I think in CoD’s case, the choice was between a bland useless villain (Xande) and a female bland useless villain (Cloud of Darkness). I’m guessing they chose CoD because of the game’s lack of female characters. And this one gets to wear pasties.

  • Randy Marsh

They only said that the stuff from the Compilation will be off the table for the remake currently and would not be in the remake heavily at the current moment.

In addition, the Cloud that appears in Dissidia is from the original VII, which means AC is canon to it. So the Cloud in this game is from after AC, similar to how Lightning in this will be the Lightning from after LR.

  • Miqote

    lol

  • MajoraMan28

Well, yes, that’s the Cloud from the original continuity, since it’s the same one from the previous Dissidias. But the one thing I disliked about Dissidia was how they were supportive of the post-KH portrayal of Cloud’s character. He may have looked like the original Cloud, but he acted like the emo dude that was out of character from his more assertive and even heroic counterpart from the original game (yes, heroic even when after he realizes his memories were fake).
All I wanted from Dissidia then was that at least they kept his original look. But they went with the hideous AC design. :/

  • Randy Marsh

Well the thing about Cloud in AC is more of the fact he has survivors guilt for the death of Aerith and Zack, plus the fact he was dying in AC. Not too sure staying happy is entirely possible with the latter, well unless you’re some kind of insane performance artists like Hannah Wilke or something. If you can tell in DoC, he’s not as goth emo anymore and actually talks to the gang again in a manner similar in FFVII.

Now I will give you this, the debbie downer attitude in something like KHII does not make entire sense, as the events of FFVII never occurred. His little downer attitude was kind of a requirement in KH1 since he had no idea where his childhood friends were.

I think the idea is they want to keep the continuity where the games are currently. Personally I enjoyed his AC outfit, although I’m a bit nitpicky on the fact he still has his DAMN GEOSTIGMA COVERING SLEEVE. Like why? This is even something that bothered me in DoC.

Honestly, the best version of Cloud that has come close to matching his original cocky stubborn attitude was in World of Final Fantasy. Which surprisingly made him a real fun character in the game, yeah he has the occasional downer moment, but he was a bit more easy going. I kind of wish the other teams would use that interpretation more.

So in a way, I agree and disagree with your statements. Like if the means are justified for the attitude, then yeah I won’t complain. If not, I just tend to ignore it sometimes. However, I do get what you’re trying to speak of here.

  • MajoraMan28

    YES
In WoFF, that was the closest they got to the original Cloud!
And while I agree with you that him dying could make him depressed, his survivor’s guilt doesn’t make sense. One of the defining things about the end of the game was him overcoming those exact feelings and being happy with the people around him and being alive.
Also…. the ending was supposed to be ambiguous, and AC ruined everything about it.
AC Cloud being overly emo was mostly due to his KH iteration. And they made him like that in the game bc Disney didn’t let them use Vincent on the game, so they tried to mix the two, both visually and in certain character traits. You could say both Nomura and Disney killed the character more than 10 years ago. 😛

And about the geostigma sleeve… I’m glad I’m not the only one bothered by this inconsistency. XP
At least Smash Bros took that away in one of the alts to show he was fine, but continue to use it in official titles S-E made was laughable, to say the least

  • When did they say that? I don’t get what’s the point of them…you know what lol I’m just gonna let Square do them and see how things go
