Square Enix has released details for Final Fantasy XV Royal Edition coming to Playstation 4 and Xbox One, as well as going into spec requirements for the Windows Edition of FFXV coming to Steam, Origin and Windows 10. According to Square Enix, these special editions feature the base game and over 20 game add-ons and DLC. There is new features included in these editions of the game as well, which include an expanded map of Insomnia with new enemies and sidequests, and the inclusion of a first-person camera mode.

Both Final Fantasy XV Royal Edition and Final Fantasy XV Widows Edition will feature:

Square Enix has also announced that the Final Fantasy XV Windows Edition of the game will release at the same time as the Royal Edition on March 6th and that, in order to help players optimize their PCs for the game’s launch, a benchmark tool and instructions will be available beginning February 1st, and that more information is available on the official website, including a list of specifications for minimum, recommended and 4K HDR.

Also beginning February 1st, fans who pre-order the PC version of the game will receive store-specific pre-order and early purchase bonuses.

  • More details on the early purchase bonuses will be available at a later time, and all information for pre-order bonuses is available on the official website.

Square Enix also notes that the physical Steam version of the disc is only an installer, and that a Steam account registration will be required to play the game. The physical Steam version will not come with the pre-order bonus, but the early purchase bonus will be included.

Final Fantasy XV Royal Edition will be available for the Playstation 4 and Xbox One for $49.99 on March 6th 2018, and will feature new packaging art designed by legendary artist Yoshitaka Amano.

The “Final Fantasy XV Royal Pack”, including new downloadable content in FFXV Royal Edition, will be available separately for $19.99 on the Playstation and Xbox stores. This purchasable pack allows existing players of FFXV the chance to enjoy all the new features by applying this pack to the base game.

Will the windows edition also be $50?

  • Miqote

Dispise this game, but always live ti see new Amano artwork

  • Marc Balgro

Please a pre-order steelbook or bonus with this new amano art cover, its soo beautiful.

  • Kyle

I look forward to the boat rides.

  • eijin_kiver

    Looks cool!

  • Artemis Polara

    I like everything I see here 🙂

  • Patrick Bateman

lmfao they release a “complete edition” and us vets who expected a complete edition when we first bought the game have to pay an extra $20 for the rest of it LOL fuck that noise

  • Noctis Leonhart Strife

Thinking seriously about selling mine and buying this one in the future, it is worth remembering that this Royal Edition does not include the 3 DLCs that were promised to be released this year. Which leads to suspect that in the future there will be a Complete Edition including the contents of the 3 DLCs of 2018

  • Ryuke

I was totally on board with the additions in this version and looking forward to exploring the new areas, and had assumed those who already have the game would get it patched in as a free update. Then I saw:

“The “Final Fantasy XV Royal Pack”, including new downloadable content in FFXV Royal Edition, will be available separately for $19.99 on the Playstation and Xbox stores. This purchasable pack allows existing players of FFXV the chance to enjoy all the new features by applying this pack to the base game.”

This, THIS, is an absolute joke. Thank you for buying our unfinished game and season pass, and sticking with us through patches and expansions until it is at a more complete state. As a thank you, YOU now need to give US more money to access what everyone else will get who’s buying the game new with the Royal Edition, oh and for cheaper than you paid for your base game in 2016 as well.

What a massive F.U to the fans.

  • Manuel Eduardo Koegler

In the same boat as you, killed my hype the moment I read it.

CAN WE TRADE IN OUR OLD GAMES FOR A DISCOUNT!
    This looks wild!
    Need it

  • stevenm281

20$ for an expansion pack isnt that bad, but I’m sure in Canada it will be closer to 25 or 30$.

  • stevenm281

its an expansion, every game developers charge money for expansions… I don’t know what the fuss is about, is it because its FF and Square Enix, and you deem them unworthy to make money off their work?

I’m more pissed that the regular price for newcomers is only 40$ rather than a full priced game.

  • •december

    high five bro

  • •december

I’d 100% recommend sell the old game.
I’m concerned about the trophies / items carrying over but then again not really

  • Mehmed

To say the truth, they should at least give the owners of the game + season pass a discount of 50%.
    9,99 instead of 19,99

  • xXDibbs

To be honest I’m going to buy it I need to free up some space on my PS4 HDD so this will help with that I was going to buy the Windows Edition anyways so this is a plus for me.

I don’t mind I enjoyed my time with XV I’m willing to spend more money to go back to it hahahaha

I shall beat the stuffing out of the Lucii and tap that female Lucii hard af

  • Ryuke

It’s hardly an expansion though. Access to the boat, a new accessory with a new ability attached, first person camera mode, and some side quests in Insomnia. They’ve added similar in patches, and definitely not the amount of content there that has come from the actual expansions.

The “fuss” is about a semi-GOTY edition releasing with some semi-exclusive content that you can only access by paying more, regardless of the players who have been here patiently since release in 2016 through the various patches, updates and bought the season pass.

I’m not sure where the FF and Square Enix comment comes from? Why would I deem them unworthy? I deem this crappy business practice and blatant money grabbing but that’s about it.

  • Breathless

Ok but does it come with an actual story? World depth? Actual choices and alternate routes? I mean, wake me up when THAT expansion/edition/whatever is announced.

  • Breathless

Yeeeeeeeah, no thank you. If I had a PC I could play the upcoming PC version on, I might be tempted. But to pay extra for some additions the digital deluxe I preordered back then? Which is arguably still a half-finished product? Just no.

  • Randy Marsh

Pssssh, people complaining they got ripped off because of this. Back in my day when we got stuff like this, we had to spend almost 70-80 dollars to import our versions of the International and Final Mixes. Basically, buying the game all over again for extra content!

  • 4FFAN

The one thing I really need to know is how much space this requires on my PS4 because FFXV is already like 80 GB big. And there’s this plus 3 new expansions coming. This is probably a stupid question but do you guys think buying the Royal Edition will reduce the game size?

  • Mehmed

BOT: I will wake you up in January 2019, for 11 Patches and 3 more DLC except the Royal Pack.

  • x5kevleo

That Artwork of Luna is awesome !

  • MajoraMan28

So…. This still isn’t the complete edition.
There will still be a year’s worth of DLC and we would still need to pay for it.
This thing that S-E has done with selling the game in parts is a massive middle finger to the ones that bought the game when it launched and payed for all the DLC. The total ammount is more than the double of what the Royal Edition is being sold for.

  • devidation

Seems you don’t comprehend how markets work because this is the case for every product in existence.

  • devidation

You paid for something that decreases in price the longer it’s on the market. Just like every other product on the market.

  • devidation

    1. The game was not unfinished. If you thought the quality of the story was bad then that’s a valid point but not that it was unfinished.
    2. They create new content to enhance the experience so It’s only normal for them to ask money for new content. People don’t work for free.
    3. When you buy something at release then that’s your choice. Every single product will drop in price the longer it’s on the market. This is not even exclusive to games.

  • 4FFAN

I hope they take this opportunity to add another reference to Nyx in the main story. His cameo was…unique…

  • Randy Marsh

    *Insert hanging around joke here*

Considering they’re adding more scenes in the World of Ruin, as seen with the scene with Noctis rallying up the Glaives, I think there will be another reference about him.

  • Diego Pinheiro

I started a few days ago a 2nd playthrough of the game but I will wait to buy this new version. i am glad SE did this. It is not free but I think it is worth $20,00 if they really add this new contest. 2018 is a good year for the fan of Street Fighter V and FFXV.

  • Artemis Polara

I do remember that sometime last year they said they were making an ingame model (not an illusionary corpse) for him. (I thought it would’ve been for a prologue tutorial for comrades)

  • Ryuke

Granted, the quality of the game itself was good. It was pretty polished, and the look, feel, and sounds were all there for a great experience. Yes, the story was lacking and chopped up, but the unfinished opinion is more based on what has been added after release. The first three episodes were clearly to plug the gaps cut for the game. Whilst enjoyable, would have been great in the game itself. Things like main party member swapping, tweaks to the car, additional story cutscenes and changes to the final chapter (verse 2) should have all been there from the get go. So whilst the game itself was polished, the content was lacking. In my opinion, of course.

I am totally fine with asking for money for creating new content for the game. It’s the way this Royal Pack is handled that gets me. The die-hard franchise fans are likely to have bought the game on release, and the new Royal Edition release caters to people who have yet bought the game. In an attempt to sweeten the deal for existing players, there is extra content included but we have to pay for it too, in order to have this great new definitive version that’s better than the initial release. Something which these new players will get in their brand new copy of the game. It’s a case of fairness and treatment of longtime fans that gets me, not the release itself.

A simple update or at least majorly reduced price for the Royal Pack for season pass owners would be totally acceptable.

  • •december

    Happy birthday for then! 😀

  • •december

Insomnia Citadel is now shrouded in Ardyn’s aura,
    … why! lol

  • •december

Noctis coming to Tekken 7 too, so I’d add Tekken too!

  • •december

The whale thing in the sea, is that Sin from Final Fantasy 10?

  • Alter Ego

They patched in cutscenes because the story had holes in it. The game was released in a shabby state to say the least. Just because that’s becoming the dorm doesn’t mean it’s not true.

  • Dod

    Can’t wait for Final_Fantasy_XV.torrent

  • Codes McGodes

Oh were those all new story scenes? Tbh I assumed they were a part of Comrades.

  • Codes McGodes

So am I the only one that feels like this isn’t $20 worth of content? Yes it’s a lot of little things, but, they’re little things. A large, vacant, fishing area and a new dungeon doesn’t seem worth the $20 price tag tbh. I do have questions though.

Will this new large area of water have anywhere the boys can dock and explore? Or is it literally just a large body of empty space? What sort of special new gameplay options will this feature? Or is it literally just a new fishing area?

There’s a quest to *obtain* and strengthen the Regalia Type-D? I’d like to know what this is about, as the Type-D was already released in a free patch. Beyond that, the only place that’s worth “obtaining” the car is after it’s been destroyed. But unless they’re making Niflheim explorable, there wouldn’t be much point to that.

Also I’m pretty excited that they’re adding new areas to explore, even if it’s just an extension of a dungeon that’s already in the game. Gives me hope for Niflheim. I hope they add a Glauca boss fight, gods that would be great. I won’t be buying the Royal edition since they’re still adding DLC throughout 2018, but I looking forward to seeing what the Royale With Cheese Edition of the game will eventually be in 2019, or later even if they keep updating it. It sounds like there’s going to be so much more content in the Final Final product, than there was in the original game, so I’m really excited to play the whole thing, complete, from start to finish when they’re finally done with it.

Also Ghost of Luna confirmed? 1:40

  • Codes McGodes

I moved to Canada a couple years ago and damn near shit a brick when I saw the price tag of video games up here.

  • Randy Marsh

Yes. The boss fight with Cerberus is also story now and Cor appearing. Along with the daemon horde coming at the gang and Luna appearing in Insomnia. All new stuff to the final chapter of the game.

  • stevenm281

maybe, I thought it was Leviathan

  • stevenm281

    welcome to Canada my friend!

  • xMysticx

    wtf…………?
people are ok with this loooooooool

  • Sothe Zephyr

Its funny…..the game was incomplete on release…..i spent a hefty amount of money on it….now they’re reselling me the bits that should’ve been there on day 1, thats hilarious. Yet people are okay with this, because it’s XV and it can do no wrong in many people’s minds. This isn’t even complete, there’s still DLC coming, with story that should be included in the base game. My god what is wrong with SE these days -.-”

XV continues to be absolutely terrible in it’s entirety. Such shameless wasting of great potential, even now, over a year after the initial release of the “complete game”

  • Sothe Zephyr

It’s just a whale based on what is shown

  • CallMeGod

Nope, this is FF15 The Almost Complete Royal Cashgrab Edition lol

  • CallMeGod

Back in my days we got a full game when we pay full price not a beta. LOL

  • CallMeGod

NO, they’re going to release the almost complete edition.

  • Codes McGodes

Why thank you! I guess $80+ games is the price of free healthcare. Well freeish healthcare where I live (I’m in BC).

  • stevenm281

    I’m in Quebec

  • Patrick Bateman

lmfao right! thanks for the correction haha :p i wasn’t aware of the “second” season pass not included with this edition. looks like they’re going the same route Bungie/Activision took with Destiny, good thing that worked out well for them right? :p

  • CallMeGod

Lol it definitely seem to work out for them, that’s why SE trying to compete with Bungie/Activision and EA to be the greediest game company out there.

  • JSYK

How are people OK with this? I wish they treated this like they did with Battlefront II and EA. This is just a big scam at this point. I’m not okay with the additional $20 price tag for people who owned the game. If it was 5 or 10, sure. And what about the guys who bought the CE? How is that fair for everyone? I hope they don’t treat KH3 this way.

  • 2me

Your hope won’t be fulfilled if people keep supporting this type of business

  • •december

“Footage subject to change” is a good thing in my eyes – they’re showing glimpses of whats to come but they always make it better than whats in trailers – for example Magitek Exosuits, and also the given story DLCs will make this an epic experience definitely

WHY ARE WE FIGHTING THE LUCII ?!

  • •december

I agree up to the point where I believe this game is unfinished, but I always knew an expansion was coming so that never made me lose hope.

I love this game and will give it a 10/10 when all the content is released most likely, BUT it doesn’t take away from the fact they released an incomplete game.

  • •december

    That’s definitely not Leviathan,
the markings are totally different and the fin is different!
    I wonder!

  • •december

Yes I’m hugely certain that is Ghost Luna.

Also you completely overlooked the fact we have to fight the rulers of Yore/Kings of Lucii – is everyone OVERLOOKING THIS LIKE WOAH Lol

  • •december

    Shut up Mystic lol
The Mystic will be the first Ruler of Yore i’ll defeat now

  • •december

I was aware an unannounced expansion was in the works since the early weeks of FFXV, it helps to follow reliable news sources like novacrystallis

  • xMysticx

    go play your game
you are happy you got scammed
    still you’d want more

  • xMysticx

tabatas ass is sweet to kiss go kiss it
    attention whore

  • •december

    U mad bro?
i haven’t even said anything and you’re triggered

  • xMysticx

    you replied i commented
    triggred ……hardly
    you jjust love attention
go seek it somewhere else smh

  • •december

    so – before we continue:

    may I clarify…

If you have the game already,
you only have to pay for the “Royal Expansion” Pack, correct?

  • •december

    you’re emotional though
I merely said I would destroy The Mystic first, hence a reference at the game

  • xMysticx

    naah
    SE is the next EA
sooooooooooooooooo i have my laughs here thats what caught your attention

  • 2me

They gave us 30% of the map from what they promised and it had a single town and a single city. I don’t understand what do you mean by ‘not unfinished’ unless you mean they ‘finished’ scamming us with their initial product.

  • xMysticx

catch the reference o what they do and they dont care

  • Codes McGodes

Oh I saw that. I’m pretty hype about it but my post was already getting so long lmao.

  • Mehmed

    May I?
Even if they announce to update this game even a year more, that means until 2020 (2019 whole) I will say that they won’t be able to finish this game
Because it’s a very big Desaster and Clusterfuck.
They shouldn’t have done the CGI Movie and the Anime and the Novel.

It would have been okay if Nomura released Versus in 3 Parts.
Part 1 at the End of 2015
Part 2 at the End of 2017
Part 3 at the End of 2019
What would have changed? We would have had a complete game.
And for everyone who could have waited: 2020 FF XV Complete Collection.

This game is just a fucking huge mess of Clusterfuck

  • •december

    Lmao.
•The whale looks like Sin from FF10 (it’s 100% isn’t Levaithan look at the fin and look at the markings)
•future updates could mean travelling to Niflheim by boat
•Omega literally drops out of a portal, we haven’t seen portals in this game quite like that
•there’s a maroon aura (Ardyn’s aura) around Citadel Insomnia this time
•Cor and Noctis were not involved in the glaives last time around

some of the details I picked up that nobody seems to be talking about!

  • •december

This again comes up, people forget why Nomura couldn’t release FFversus13, then they get mad… when in reality its better than getting nothing at all.

Look into why Nomura couldn’t release before criticising the game we got

  • Helen

  • Mehmed

I’m not that sure about it. They could have made Versus 13 a 2 hour Movie with the things we saw 2006-2011 (forget this 2013 expansion)
And made FF XV this roadtrip with friends etc.

FF XV is like two completely different games mashed up.
I do think everyone would be happy. People that like FF XV like it because of the roadtrip, people that hate it, hate it because of the fucking bad story and the aftertase of Versus.

I guess everyone would be more or less happy.

There are really some people that said, without the story, the game is quite a fun game to play. They could have made it an Open World game from the beginning to the end without such a heavy story that picks up here and there.

    And yeah, i agree.

  • HK-47

Seems like you don’t comprehend how markets work either because of you falsely stating that this is the case for every product in existence when that couldn’t be more incorrect. The only examples I can think of that has more than one season pass other than FFXV is Mortal Kombat and Evolve. I’d hardly call that “every product in existence”. Also, never has a single player game in the history of the video game industry had this much story content added to it after its release like it’s on life support or something.

  • stevenm281

    yes, which is 20$ US

  • stevenm281

Training I guess before facing Ardyn… can’t wait to know!

  • stevenm281

    UPDATE : https://www.dualshockers.com/final-fantasy-xv-royal-edition-update-19-99-price-mistake/

The Royal Pack will not be 20$ US, it was an error, the price has yet to be decided for those that already own FF15.

  • JSYK

    unfortunate truth there 🙁

  • Codes McGodes

I thought $20 sounded awfully high.

  • •december

Look into why Nomura took 7 years to work on FF versus 13, until it had to be re-directed by Tabata as FF15 in order to be released

  • Codes McGodes

NIFLHEIM BY BOAT OH MY GOD I DIDN’T THINK OF THAT. Would be cool if they added a few islands to explore too, with some new campsites, hunts, and dungeons to boot. I’m 100% I’m thinking too much into it though.

Explorable Niflheim is literally the only thing I want. Well that’s a lie, I want many things. But Explorable Niflheim is p much at the top of my list. Still hoping for an Empire update that weaves the major players more throughout the story (Ardyn, Iedolas, Verstael, Aranea, Ravus, Glauca, optional Loqi/Calligo). I.e. I’d like to see all the stuff that happened in the background cuz I very much doubt the Emperor just sat quietly on his throne the entire game.

I’m excited for all the new bosses and story content though. Hopefully the World of Ruin will feel more…full now. It occured to me after watching the trailer though that Cerberus was also in Kingsglaive. Maybe Diamond Weapon and Ultros will be bosses eventually too. And GLAUCA (come on Square plx). Also the whale just looked like a whale to me tbh. But it might could be a nod to Sin. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

  • •december

They thought it important enough to make a complete-ish version of FFXV in a new release, there’s some all new hordes of story going on for sure!

  • Codes McGodes

I sure hope so. Would explain why they’ve been lacking so much in the “free patch story content” department. After their initial announcement of the patch updates, I sort of expected more than just two cutscenes in a whole year.

Strangely though, “New cutscenes/story content” is not specifically listed as a bullet point. If it were a significant amount of new cutscenes, you’d think they’d say so.

  • •december

Yep! Gotta wait til March I guess lol

  • HK-47

This is hilarious. Royal Edition isn’t even the complete edition as there’s still more content to be released this year. Can’t wait to see a price tag on the complete edition too. SE have really sunk low. This game needed at least another 2-4 years in development. Either way, the fact that people support this kind of thing saddens me. It’s exactly why they do it, because they know people will eat it up regardless.

  • •december

Do some research into why Nomura couldn’t release FFversus13 in 7 years, its actually rather interesting

  • Mehmed

I would guess it comes down to exactly 3 things.

    1. SE making wrong decisions with a trillogy of FF 13
    2. Nomura (thanks to all this time that goes on) expands and changes the story
    3. SE thinks that a dark game, losely based on FF Elements is not what consumers want.

    That’s it exactly.

BTW: I think i’ve read all of these details regarding Nomura, but i’m not sure.

  • true Venett

this is seriously bullshit, so disappointed in gaming industry now, it used to be run by passion.
Even SE has sunked so low…

  • devidation

When you buy a tv you gonna cry a year later that people get it cheaper?

  • devidation

They never promised you anything. They showed a sculpture of a map in a video stating IN DEVELOPMENT SUBJECT TO CHANGE. Stop crying

  • Sothe Zephyr

Expansions expand on a completed story and dont finish the base games missteps. Easy misunderstanding, but not really

  • Sothe Zephyr

That isn’t relevant though. The game is poor, the company is responsible, we’re allowed to express our dissatisfaction with, lets be honest, a pretty poor game that is having its fixes sold to us because the base game wasn’t done well enough

  • Ryuke

Thank christ! Much better, crisis averted.

  • JTD95

Maybe wrong place to post this but I don’t get why people keep praising Nomura’s version of FFXV (VersusXIII) which we know so little about. I won’t defend the current game we have cause it’s quite messy, but I don’t get why people think Nomura would have done better. The main critic against the game is the narrative, and anyone familiar with Nomura’s work on Kingdom Hearts and FFVII Advent Children knows that fucker can’t tell a story any better than Tabata.

  • •december

    +1

  • •december

So I guess you do know what Nomura went through, and why he couldn’t release Final Fantasy versus 13?

  • Vallen

Because his version of XV was darker and about war. Tabata’s XV ended up being a boy band simulator with selfies along the way.

  • Vallen

I don’t get the comments. If you hate XV, why are you here, go away. And yes, for us that like the game, we’re perfectly okay with the developer supporting it and giving us new content.

  • JTD95

They’ve always looked like a boy band. And although Nomura’s version was initially going to be darker in atmosphere and themes there are still a big chance with him in charge that it would still have turned out bad. One can talk all he wants about his great ideas for a story, but they still have to be executed properly. Tabata’s version could have been good even though it isn’t as dark.

  • 4FFAN

    Thanks! lol

  • stevenm281

I’d add that it’s not because we like the game that we’re unaware of its faults, we just don’t mind them enough to prevent us from enjoying the game.

Therefore, when we critize it, it’s constructive, as we aim to keep playing, we’re not just hating on the game as most people that critizes FF15 are not playing it, and have no intention of playing it anyway.

  • stevenm281

Nomura wanted to turn it into a musical so.. I’m not sure how much better it would have been. Plus, according to Roberto Ferrari, he kept changing the script regularly which made the development impossible to proceed further.

  • Vallen

Hey, I’d love to play Nomura’s XV like any other person. And Hey, I do have my faults with Tabata’s XV like any other person. But at the end of the day, I think the gameplay for XV is great and I’m happy they’re constantly adding new areas to explore and new abilities to enhance the combat.

  • 2me

No, they said twice in two Active Time Reports that the product version of worldmap is going to be 10 times bigger than the product version of Duscae Region. I don’t even need to talk about main story hours. Worldmap itself was humongous false ads and I am pointing it out, not crying, maybe it’s time for you to do some research before you whining

  • Justice V

20 might be a lot. Though to me it seems fairish. However everything you paid for in the CE you’ve already gotten. It’s not like the CE was marked up in cost just to gouge you. You paid for goods and recieved them. This is a year later worth of extra goods. Free would be nice, but by no means should it be free either.

  • Justice V

Huh. I actually dislike the roadtrip part but like the story part.

  • Justice V

Hopefully it’s no more than $20. 20 seemed reasonable with all the additional content teased in that trailer. Then again so far all gameplay mechanic related stuff has been free so far. So only additional stuff would be the story bits and depending on the size some of those have been free already too. I wonder if the royal pack will reshuffle the flow of the game too as it’s been rumoured the episodes will now be side stories within the main game rather than selectable outside in the main menu. Not sure if I even like the idea of being forced to play their side stories when I should be sticking to Noctis at the time.

  • stevenm281

I would prefer everything to be coherently placed within one narrative experience, as it was back in previous generations.

  • Mehmed

    You are very special.
It’s the first time I heard this.

  • Jesiah Grant

Well, thats some disappointing box art…no matter I’m waiting for the complete edition with 2018s DLC too.

  • Justice V

Really? The roadtrip aspect was by far the least enjoyable bit. I mean the bonding aspect was good, but I categorize that under the story because their bonding is pushing the character development. But the act of driving around an open world was the least exciting bit of the game. Was happy it had an auto drive feature though, took away the need to drive myself.

  • Justice V

If it’s done well I’ll be all up for it. Considering it was made after and not originally intended to be put in together I just don’t know if it’ll feel weird to go from the leviathan insanity with Noct to a 2 hour side story with Ignis and keep the same flow of intensity and despair the original had. Granted ep Ignis was awesome and emotional on it’s own too. We’ll see I guess.

  • NotCarolKaye

People praise his version of the game because it’s the one we didn’t get. Their logic is; Square Enix can only fuck things up, so since they decided to finish the game in a reworked form it means that Nomura’s version must’ve been a flawless masterpiece that they cheated us of having.

That’s it. That’s the reason. Because you’re right, we’ve never known enough about Nomura’s idea of it to reach any sort of substantial conclusions.

And for anyone other than JTD95 who might read this.
That IS the reason. So before you write an essay to try to justify your shit, just know that I don’t care and you won’t convince me.

  • Mehmed

Since when do you know this game?

  • stevenm281

While people keep saying that the second half of the game need improvement, I more or less agree.

To me the whole game need improvement, the first half needs a lot more cutscene to set the story, I’d remove the rushed Kingsglaive mix at the beginning of Chapter 3 if I’m not mistaken, and I would take a few complete scenes from the movie and scatter them in the first few chapters, I’d even switch the Ifrit battle preview for something from Kingsglaive like the prologue narrated by Luna, altho for the game, I’d ask the in-game voice actress to do it.

The second half need more explorable environments such as the region between Catarnica and the mines where we go when Ignis is blind, the Shiva corpse area, Tenebrae, Gralea.

  • •december

Lmfao this is the smartest thing I’ve read in the comment section.
As I own FFXV already, I’ll just get the royal expansion downloaded

  • Jesiah Grant

Yeah I can wait, there’s plenty of other great games coming out that will hopefully not be as chopped up as FFXV was. I platinumed the base game of XV but never touched the dlc at all, I’ll replay it when everything about this game is done and dusted on one disc.

  • Franbell

Still looks a LOT more like Leviathan than Sin.

  • •december

It’s a small section of the whale.
I know its not Sin from FF10 but a whale would look more like Sin than Leviathan, as she is a water serpent dragon thing

  • stevenm281

Hey guys! Look what Square Enix put on the Japanese website!

FF15 OST Vol. 2, coming out March 21!

    http://www.square-enix.co.jp/music/sem/page/ff15/ost2/

  • 4FFAN

Before everyone goes out to buy the Royal Edition, I just wanna say that it is basically the base game with a voucher to download the Royal Expansion and other DLC. The new content isn’t on the disc. http://www.amiami.com/top/detail/detail?gcode=GAME-0019567&page=top

  • •december

Thanks! As more news comes in, i’ll most likely keep my game anyways.
Seems the idea to just download the royal expansion with it

  • •december

    Track listing please! 😀

  • •december

Please no more Talcott, I saw him too many times in the last Chapter lol
What a little nuisance, I’m so glad to see Cor Leonis actively helping out instead.
Really would like to see Ravus in Royal Expansion Insomnia somehow, although unlikely.
    Please make Lunafreya matter!
Make Ifrit and Bahamut a summon? It’s not as unlikely as it sounds.

  • stevenm281

I like Talcott, I still dream of seeing the Lestallum invasion and witness Jared’s death and how Iris, Talcott and the citizens reacted to the Imperial army coming in town.

  • stevenm281

    Can’t wait!

I’ll be getting the 5 CDs version, not a fan of OSTs on Bluray.

  • •december

    Same story with Luna lolol

  • stevenm281

The game needs to show her interactions with the populace and the Astrals, how she managed to get from Insomnia to Altissia.

  • Sothe Zephyr

Giving us “new content” shouldn’t be mopping up the messy story and blatant missing plot and details that should’ve been in the game at release, but yeah sure.

  • Artemis Polara

Okay the biggest mistake I see here (this is subjective and you can hate on the game all you wish) is this expansion is being marketed as a definitive edition of sorts when we already know it’s not the end. They should’ve just called this the “Royal Expansion pack” or something like that. I mean really, it’s just a paid expansion like Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction was to its base game.

  • Artemis Polara

By the way I’m amused by my list still…

-Luna DLC Episode centered around her character development <—- Likely coming in year 2

-Allow Cor, Aranea, and Iris to join in chapter 15 (past Lucis) and level up
with the party as full party members (Only one of them at a time)

-Bahamut and Ifrit summons in chapter 15 (Ifrit only works in the past)
(Also it stands to reason you can since you didn’t have Shiva or Leviathan in
past Lucis yet you can use them there too)

-More tours around the world. (Episode Duscae had 5 alone) The full game
    should be packed with them.

-Option to explore all (or most of) Insomnia (Past or timeskip), Tenebrae
(Feels like a wasted opportunity currently), Niflheim (And I mean more than the
linear capital (AKA the whole country), and Altissia (You mapped out most of
Altissia anyway) <—— Just added Insomnia and parts of Altissia were playable in Episode Ignis

-More Ravus content (Boss fight during first encounter in the Niflheim base
before Ardyn shows up (Make him a real threat), improved characterization, and
story details) <—- Added in Episode Ignis and tidbits in the updates

-Post Timeskip Iris, Aranea, Cor, Cid, and Cindy (I know it might bog things
down but allow the player the choice to go straight to the end or to mess
around beforehand) <————-Post Timeskip Cor added (still waiting on the others)

-Kingsglaive Movie incorporated into the game as a playable scenario (Just
use the film footage for cutscenes),this would allow movie threats enemies incorporated
into the main game: Diamond Weapon, Cerberus, and those Starship Troopers bugs <——–Cerberus added in Royal Edition, Diamond Weapon referenced in Episode Prompto (though I wish you could fight one still)

-Return of Glauca Episode (Surviving against Nyx, he hunts down Noctis for a
side story) (Thus Noctis avenges his father, Luna’s mother, and Gladio’s Dad)

-Playable Omen Trailer Story Episode (As a nightmare or a "what
if") (You have some of the areas already ingame) (Some not… I went looking
    for that tree)

-Brotherhood segments incorporated into the game (You modeled a young
Prompto so it stands to reason that you can do the rest for flashback segments)

-Increase difficulty and dynamics to the Ardyn boss fight's first and second
phase (During the ground segment, Ardyn isn’t aggressive enough and gives too
many opportunities to attack) (The flying segment is too simple and shallow. It
needs more options and it doesn’t feel as epic as it should be) <———–Episode Ignis fixed this in a way but I'd like that integrated into the actual final boss in the main story.

-Paid Full Expansions if some of these ideas are too big for Regular DLC/Updates
(This could allow more large regions to be explored) (Could also fill out
segments of the story which were lacking) <———Royal Edition is kind of that

-More Multiplayer options: Offline split screen and PVP

-2 years of DLC/Update support for the game <———-And they are doing this

So 7/15 suggestions of mine have been met in some form. (Not fully in some of them to be fair) But still gratifying to see never the less.

  • Millennial Ingrate

‘If you don’t like it as much as I do, go away!’

You’ve got yourself the perfect non-argument.

  • •december

the game needs to show how tf we got from Altissia to Niflheim 😐
we just magically appear in a train* after leaving Altissia I think the fuck not!

  • stevenm281

Second half does that way too much, same problem with Catarnica and the mine, which is 3km away, the elevator going down, do not bring us there, theres a whole region to traverse.

Realised this when I went down the mine, decided to come back up the elevator, and noticed the quest objective location was way across the map.

  • •december

I mean there’s a whole ‘oh you can only get to Altissia by Passport’ bullshit – but Niflheim is A-ok? You can’t tell me that’s ok I’m not over this. Atleast a cutscene or something of them boarding the train stations.

Don’t get me started about Cartanica, lmao.
It was the epic fail, I remember the open path that said “Do you want return back to the station” Yeah its far away, what a mess…

If they acknowledged these outrageous and blatantly obvious hard-not-to-notice gaps in playtime I WILL HAPPILY PURCHASE THE ENTIRE EDITION. I ACTUALLY WILL ENJOY THE ROYAL EXPANSION VERY MUCH. I’m bound to enjoy the minor additions anways, but glad i’m not alone though

  • Adam Hedquist

JTD95: There are plenty of information on what Versus should’ve been like from valid sources, you just have to search for it.

I wouldn’t say that people are ”praising” anything, it’s just a matter of being disappointed that so much were scrapped and changed. It had darker themes, it was more unique than any FF b4 it etc.

Tabata said that we should forget about Versus because Versus and XV are not the same game. People are complaining about SE putting chokeholds on creative artists like Nojima and Nomura, whether their vision would be godly or downright ASS is not the point here as it doesn’t matter now but the fact that we didn’t get to experience what THEY had in mind for Versus/ a.k.a their story, that’s what pisses people off.

  • Adam Hedquist

    NotCarolKaye:Jesus…holy shit you’re wrong.

  • Adam Hedquist

About that musical deal: I think people heard it out of context and that Nomura never meant for Versus to be just a musical, but rather just a another version of it.

  • •december

A dark FF title is exactly what consumers want.

  • HK-47

There is no TV that adds new features a year or more later, because by then there’s a newer or better model. When it comes to TVs, what you see is what you get and you only pay once. That’s certainly not the case with FFXV.

Are you even trying? You have no argument whatsoever, and whatever argument you attempt to provide is off base, irrelevant or plainly incorrect. Do yourself a favor and save some face.

  • HK-47

I know why he couldn’t, not that that has anything to do with what I was saying or my argument. The point is that this game needed another 2-4 years in development, and nothing changes that fact. All it is now is a cashgrab, and people are falling for it. Also fact.

  • •december

Final Fantasy 15 would’ve been the same age as what you’re saying then.
    (FFversus13, 2006-2013 = 7 years… FF15 lifespan, 2013-2016 (3) + your 2-4 years of development thats roughly … you guessed it! 7 years.
So I’ll say it again, why wasn’t Nomura’s version released then? Your arrogance is the only truth in your argument

  • HK-47

None of this was even the point of my argument. You either misunderstood my comment or you’re a fantasista.

Still doesn’t change the fact that it’s a cashgrab and they’re making people pay for multiple season passes, DLCs, and different editions of the game. Effectively screwing over people who bought the ultimate collector’s edition etc and got something half-assed, and then expect people to pay more for the complete game. THAT is the point I’m trying to make. They should’ve kept it in development for another 2-4 years until they could have released the full game instead of wringing consumers dry. Instead, we get this garbage.

I don’t know how to make it any clearer than that.

  • Third World Tristan

This game killed my hope for the Japanese gaming industry. SE is a leader there nowadays, you know. With this shameless clusterfuck, there’s no hope left.

  • Third World Tristan

No, I’d rather get nothing at all than this clusterfuck.

  • Third World Tristan

The base was hot garbage. Now it’s still 7/10 tops.

  • Third World Tristan

The TV is complete when you buy it. Using your analogy, SE sold us the frame of the TV and then asked us to buy the screen, PCBs, PSU, etc.

  • Third World Tristan

I am done with SE since FFXV. I will never forgive them this shameless clusterfuck.
