Final Fantasy XIV Dad of Light actor Ren Osugi has passed away

Ren Osugi, a prolific actor in Japanese film, television, and stage performances, has passed away at the age of 66 due to sudden heart failure. One of his recent roles was the titular “Dad of Light” in a mini-series called “Final Fantasy XIV Dad of Light“.

Based on a true story, it involves the story of a father and son who have grown distant over the years. When Dad announces his sudden retirement, the son gifts him a copy of Final Fantasy XIV — as they both bonded playing Final Fantasy games years ago. The son then conspires with his friends to guide his Dad through the world of Eorzea, without giving away his true identity.

Rest in peace.

Dad of Light is available to watch on Netflix, and has English subtitles.
