Final Fantasy XV Royal Edition and Windows Edition out now, features new launch trailer By Erren Van Duine on March 6, 2018 at 1:36 PM

Final Fantasy XV’s Royal and Windows Editions launch today, bringing with them a wealth of new content for veterns and first-time players alike. In addition to the base game, players can experience all of the existing Season Pass content, an expanded map, new areas and more.

Here’s a rundown of what to expect:

  • Expanded Map: Insomnia City Ruins – all-new side quests and enemies such as Cerberus and Omega will be available through the expanded map of the Crown City of Insomnia. Players will also take on the Rulers of Yore.
  • A fully-controllable Royal Vessel boat, expanding the world of Eos and allowing players to explore the area between Cape Caem and Altissia. Players will also be able to fish aboard the vessel and discover new fishes and dishes.
  • A new accessory that can activate the new action “Armiger Unleashed” – players will be able to unleash powerful attacks while the Armiger is summoned. After collecting all of the royal arms, players will be able to find an accessory in an unidentified part of the world, enabling access to Armiger Unleashed.
  • A new first-person camera mode, allowing players to experience the game from Noctis’ perspective.
  • More than a dozen pieces of downloadable content including weapons, Regalia car skins and item sets.
  • Archive – players can review the “Cosmogony” stories scattered throughout the FINAL FANTASY XV world. Additional local myths and legends will also be placed in various new locations, allowing players to obtain more information about the world.
  • Quest to obtain and strengthen Regalia Type-D.
  • New trophies/achievements.

Those who already own the base game can simply purchase the Royal Pack in their respective platform stores. Square Enix has provided a new launch trailer as well, linked below:

New opening cutscene to Chapter 5
Festival type side-quests added to Chapter 10 (they’re terrible)
    Chapter 14 Grandeur expansion

It’s been good, it’s a solid update, but it doesn’t merit its own release. I specifically mean Royal Edition btw* - not Windows Edition - I had base game since 2016
That’s like Call of Duty’s BO3 Zombie expansion coming out on a new Disc… lol

Royal Edition content is superb, btw.

  • Ryuke

I’d like to try out the new content included in this “Royal Edition” pack, but am definitely not paying £12 for it I’ll just give it a year when it drops to practically nothing, and by then the next version of FFXV will be out with the 2018 content included as well. Whilst the updates to the game since launch have been worthwhile and included some great features, the state of the game depending on when you bought it and what packs and DLC etc you bought is as much of a mess as the current trophy / achievement list. There’s the base game trophy list, each episode DLC trophy list, the July 2017 (I think it was?) update trophy list, Comrades trophy list, the new Comrades Update trophy list and now the Royal Pack trophy list.

That’s a pretty good summary of the game’s releases / updates / versions as a whole, a mess!

At least folks buying the game new now, whether it be on Windows or the Royal Edition on consoles, will get a far more complete experience. It’s just a shame those who bought on release have been shafted with an inferior version depending on how deep your wallet is willing to go.

  • Noctis Leonhart Strife

I’m not going to try this Royal Pack, I think it’s disrespectful to those who trusted the company and bought the day one edition. I’d rather wait for the full version by 2019.

  • •december

Or atleast until all the 4 DLC are out!

  • •december

They really shafted casual gamers in particular…

  • Artemis Polara

By the way I glitched Omega

  • So is the moral of the story “never buy the vanilla version of a game and just wait months or a whole two years after a game is out to get all the content and story”?

  • Randy Marsh

That sounds like Squaresoft in a nutshell since 2001….

  • Well not when it comes to the main title KH games. But for FFS yeah.
Sad thing is besides that, Square always just does the same thing. Relentlessly shove games out that keep reducing their heroes into fodder mascots for cheap short games on phones or dlc.

  • I tried playing the opera game on my phone and it wouldn’t even respond to my fingers.

  • Justice V

KH’s were the same. Jp version comes out. US version comes out with new features. Final mix comes out round a year later with the US features and then even more features. Wait 15 years then US finally gets final mix version.

  • Justice V

Waiting makes sense. But don’t see the disrespect.

  • Justice V

    Superb but not worth it?

  • •december

Superb content, that should remained a DLC. Yes its worth the purchase.
Windows Edition should have been the only physical disc release.
Just give the 3 episodes with or without the Royal Pack DLC…
    Thats just what I think

  • But at least the KH games gave you a lot of content and story and character development in the main vanilla game. I didn’t have to wait for a DLC to see what Aqua did in chapter 2. But that happened all thru XV.

  • Azizal Nazli

Ffxv is problem since tabata take role over nomura..base story, character changes a lot..and now ffxv (2016) is not complete game..n now royal edition (2018) also still not complete game..royal pack is so useless for the one who buy ffxv (2016)..no season pass included..maybe should wait 2019 for ultima edition for complete storyline in ffxv..sigh..

  • xMysticx

oppps didnt tabata say that xv its own game ?
then….. what does this move has to be here ?

ohhh i forgot if i remember correctly doesnt this match the cgi from 2006 ?

mimics wont save a thing and this tabata backs on his own words to easily LOL

  • Sothe Zephyr

So the people who expected a complete game on release have to pay for the game to finally be somewhat complete? I n t e r e s t i n g.

  • •december

that’s why so many people have moved on
I don’t deny there was a lot of bullshit to eat up for this game.. still one of my favourites
