Shadow of the Tomb Raider reveal set for March 15 By Wazi the pa on March 14, 2018 at 7:43 PM

Square Enix has updated the official website for the Tomb Raider series, featuring a black splash page reading “MARCH 15TH, 2018 6:00AM PDT“.

According to the text contained in the source code of the website, “Shadow of The Tomb Raider is the climactic finale of Lara’s origin story. Available September 14th 2018,” indicating that the upcoming reveal will be for the next title in the Tomb Raider series.

This falls in line with what the company said back in December when they teased that “a new Tomb Raider game is coming” followed by an announcement promise for 2018.

  • So they’re doing a trilogy for her origins. That means after this game we’ll finally see the older, confident, acrobatic, dual gun using Lara?

I’m hoping the dual guns return in this game. But maybe I’m being too hopeful. I hope the games after Shadow still follow the same continuity though.

You forgot other information from the source code. It said a full reveal is coming on April 27th.

  • Her personality is so subdued though. She doesn’t stand out. The only thing about her true to the original Lara is her resourcefulness and intelligence. After surviving two life or death struggles she still doesn’t have much confidence and nothing even remotely resembling her iconic fighting style of martial arts, two guns, and acrobatics.

I agree story is important. But don’t nix who she is. Lara is suppose to be a brass in a fight. But she just lumbers around when she swings those axes.

  • 4FFAN

I don’t really have a problem with her personality considering she’s still developing as a character and she does show more confidence at the end of the first and through out the second game when you compare her to how she was in the first hours of the 2013 reboot. Hopefully, the next fames will give her back her physical prowess. I haven’t played any of the “Origin” games because I feel like there’s too much unjustified, gross violence which I can’t tolerate personally. I hope they tone it down once they’re done with the “Origin Trilogy”

  • They did the gore because they wanted to undo the idealize way Lara was before. She came off as a super model who could defeat countless foes and any odds without messing up her hair. I didn’t mind that as long as they showed how smart and skilled she was. But in this day and age, people love the word “realism” and “gritty”. And they anything that’s not like the way those two origin games were is consider “stupid” or “childish”.

Hopes for Shadow of the Tomb Raider:
    Use two handguns.
    Acrobatic dodging counters.
Replace climbing axe with a combat dagger or a grappling hook gadget.
Lara saying talks trash dry wit style.

  • 4FFAN

I don’t mind the games making violence a bit more realistic to show that Lara’s not invincible, but putting spears through Lara’s neck, shoving pick axes and broken bottles in people’s face…It’s a little much if you ask me.

  • I agree. I like my violence like a Jackie Chan film. People get hurt and it’s realistic. But I don’t need blood on the walls.
