Special Guest: Toshio “Foxclon” Murouchi, global online producer

Global community producer is a job that involves handling the GM team, community teams, customer support teams, and other community management aspects of the game.

Before Final Fantasy XIV, Foxclon worked as a GM on the Japanese client of Ultima Online and moved to Final Fantasy XI. He was also responsible for spawning monsters in the city-states during the end of Final Fantasy XIV 1.0. During the launch event of A Realm Reborn, Yoshida was moved to tears and Foxclon was deeply moved by players shouting “ganbare!”

In order to deal with bots in PvP, a Special Task Force was made to find and deal with them which is done in conjunction with the legal team. Foxclon encourages to keep reporting unfair behavior.

Foxclon went on to present on penalties in the game for bad behavior. These are rules that only apply to Final Fantasy XIV and not other Square Enix services, but they will use a three-strike rule for the same type of penalty that includes suspensions from the game. These infractions may result in a termination of a service account.

Game Masters may bring a player to the “Mordian Gaol” to speak with players privately for many types of issues. You’re unable to /teleport or /return here.

Once a player is banned by an account admin, Yoshi-P will review the report. Re-registration is not recommended and you can submit a re-investigation request but overturning these is very rare. The most common penalties include harassment, grief tactics, inappropriate conduct, spamming, and real-money-trading activity.

Also, in community matters, here’s a look at the community gear contest design winner where the gear based off the design will be implemented in the game. A new white dress glamour was shown off as well.

Just a little edit: the Duty Roulette: Raids feature they’re planning to add may not include Binding Coil raids.

  • Miqote

    Can’t wait for this patch!!

  • Krijn van Alten

So just Alexander? Did they give any reason why no BC?

  • Krijn van Alten

Yes, the second part of Return to Ivalice!

  • Randy Marsh

The obvious reasons will be because of level syncing placed on parties in roulette; mainly to preserve the original nature of the fight and people who hit 60 barely doing them, and the obvious fact Coil has no “normal” mode like Alex and Omega. A majority of the community now have only cleared the coil series due to the option to do unsynyc clears, so many people have not done the mechanics at level 50, which were pretty brutal starting from T5; let’s not even start imagining getting T9, T11, T12, or T13 in duty finder roulette. So there will be no clearing of the Coil turns in an average roulette, so that is the obvious reason.

Yoshi already knows how some of us act in duty finder with our pointless bickering at wiping, see 2.4 live letter read at Fanfest 2014, so I guess they want to avoid confrontation and lack of clears.

  • James Stine

Probably because of the Normal mode.

  • Codes McGodes

Idk if they’d be willing to put in the work for it, but it’d be cool if they just made an easier version of those fights that worked with the roulette. It’s a shame because CoB has some amazing fights but I never get to do them, and I’ve never done any of them properly besides T5.
