Producer Shuichi Kobayashi asks fans to “Please wait a little longer” for Star Ocean 6 By Raptorchan on May 21, 2018 at 5:59 PM

Square Enix hosted a special celebratory festival for the Star Ocean series this past Sunday(May 20th, 2018). The event was called Star Ocean Fes 2018 ~Festival of the Sea of Stars~, and featured a musical concert and a cast of Star Ocean voice actors for story dramas. There was also a live stream for stage events, including an on-tour version of the Star Ocean Program.

Though Star Ocean 6 had not been present or announced during the event, Square Enix producer Shuichi Kobayashi had addressed the demand for a new entry to the series during the Star Ocean Program live stream.

“I understand,” he said. “I know what else everyone would like to hear, but speaking frankly, it’s not that simple to make. If it could be made without tri-Ace, then surely it would possible. But that’s not the case, is it? I’m saying please wait a little longer. Won’t you please wait a little longer?”

“Please keep faith in us as we continue with Anamnesis.” Kobayashi continued. “I’ll also do my best. That’s all I can say today, but I believe that everyone’s support will empower us to work hard.”

Star Ocean: Anamnesis is available now in Japan on Android and iOS devices. The latest entry from the series on console is Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness, released on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 in 2016.

If you make SO6, don’t rush it, don’t recycle 90% of the previous games, and make a fucking EFFORT!
Seriously, how the fuck did you fuck up SO5 enough to be worse than SO4?!

  • amen
SO4 had the best battle system but they went hyper cheap on SO5.
I think best story and cast was still SO2 and 3.
Next time the leader more badass too. Like how Arumat and Albel were.

    hmm,, budget, I guess.

Considering that SO5 was obviously a product of shit budget and heavy time constraints, I’d say fix that and just reboot the series with a competent scenario writer….

I’m aware of those issues but they still tried to hype the game up despite that. They tried to pass it off as the next great thing for the SO series. Also I’m still against a series reboot. I’d say just make a game set after SO3, since the universe wasn’t erased, they don’t have to restrict themselves to the 4D universe anymore anyway. Hell if anything, the 4D beings probably just made another Eternal Sphere to make up for losing their previous game.
