Final Fantasy XV to be at E3 in limited capacity, next major reveal slated for Gamescom

Final Fantasy XV will arrive at E3 this year in a limited capacity, director Hajime Tabata revealed during today’s latest Active Time Event recording.

Creating and releasing Episode Duscae was a major milestone for the team and as a “prologue” of sorts to the final release they plan on releasing information surrounding the promotion of the full game. Unfortunately, E3 doesn’t give them enough time to prepare for a big reveal, so due to tight scheduling the marketing team is considering Gamescom instead of E3 as the venue for the next bout of media.

At E3 proper, Tabata plans to debut a short trailer – something to serve as an introduction to what Square Enix hopes to show at Gamescom in August followed by further showings at events like PAX and Tokyo Game Show. Promotion for the full version of Final Fantasy XV will officially begin at Gamescom.

That said, by mid-May Square Enix will finish tallying all of the survey results since what we saw today was only an initial report of what has been gathered so far. They hope to have the full findings at a later time. Since they won’t have any major Final Fantasy XV-related announcements at E3, Square Enix hopes to do another Active Time Report in late May which puts it right ahead of E3 and right around the release of Duscae 2.0.
