Final Fantasy Versus XIII ‘Under Consideration’ For Xbox 360?

Square-Enix president Yoichi Wada sent a stir through the internet after some comments made at the company’s financial briefing this morning. According to Impress Watch, a question was posed to Wada asking him if Final Fantasy Versus XIII would be released on Xbox 360, taking into consideration the possible success Final Fantasy XIII had overseas by doing so. He responded by saying “We’ll be looking into it internally until right before the formal announcement.” His words are vague, but ‘formal announcement’ likely refers to the time when the game is finally fully revealed to the public.

Later, Wada commented on his Twitter account expressing his surprise that the internet had seemingly ‘blew up,’ and that as far as Final Fantasy Versus XIII on Xbox was concerned, nothing is official, there has been no announcement, and every point of all of their titles remains undecided.

Final Fantasy Versus XIII was said to be making its debut at this year’s E3, but since then director Testuya Nomura has stated otherwise. Details have been sparse since its surprise showing back at Jump Fest 2010 in December.

Previously, trailers have mentioned the game was ‘For PlayStation 3 Only Worldwide’ following the announcement at E3 2008 that its counterpart would be going multiplatform in western territories.

Whether Square goes back on its word now, remains to be seen. For the time being the game remains PlayStation 3 exclusive.

Final Fantasy Agito XIII Director Shares Updates

It’s been quite some time since we last heard about the PSP entry into the Fabula Nova Crystallis series, Final Fantasy Agito XIII. Today though, director Hajime Tabata (of Crisis Core fame) shared some brief information via the Square-Enix Members Twitter account.

He said that the game is at the point where it’s being fine-tuned in development. Recently in March, they presented the development version internally. The producers, managers, and members of the marketing team were all very positive about the game and the development team morale is very high. Tabata asks that fans just wait a little longer until the game can fully be unveiled.

From the sound of things, we may see the game at this year’s E3 along with Square-Enix’s other PSP title, The 3rd Birthday.

Tetsuya Nomura Interview with Square-Enix Members

Following reports that Final Fantasy Versus XIII might not see an E3 outing this year, director and character designer Tetsuya Nomura answered a few questions on the Japanese Square-Enix Member’s twitter:

Q: What percentage of Versus is done?
Nomura: Things are not connected yet, every part is moving along separately. However, we have gotten airships working over the world map.

Q: At what age do you think you’ll be active until?
Nomura: I haven’t though about my own future yet.

Q: What is your favorite character?
Nomura: I like all of the characters I have created, but I associate the most with Sora, so he is special.

Q: I’m anxious about what you said in regards to a sequel to Dissidia Final Fantasy…!
Nomura: I’ll do my best for a sequel to Dissidia Final Fantasy!

Q: You were on Konami’s Kojima’s Net Radio for some time, how is your relation now?
Nomura: Once in a while, he will invite me to meals.

Q: You should start using Twitter.
Nomura: I have nothing… to say on it.

Q: Any new information [on your latest projects]?
Nomura: Producer Hashimoto isn’t allowing me to.

Q: Current game progress, games you are currently playing, and non-game related hobbies?
Nomura: This year I want to release two titles. I recently cleared Battlefield 2 and just started on Heavy Rain. As for non-game related hobbies, I like watching various movies.

Final Fantasy XIII Unlocks Final Fantasy XIV Promotional Codes

When Final Fantasy XIII released in Japan, it came with a registration code for a chance to enter the Final Fantasy XIV beta on PlayStation 3. No one knew if North America and Europe would be receiving the same treatment… until today. People who purchase only the PlayStation 3 version of Final Fantasy XIII and register the Square-Enix Member’s code inside will be awarded a Final Fantasy XIV Promotional Code. The code offers fans two things: a secret in-game item for FFXIV, and a chance to be accepted into the PlayStation 3 beta test for the game. Oddly, Square-Enix never mentioned this at all before release. Surprise?

Full details below:

If you forget your FINAL FANTASY XIV promotional code, you may review it by logging into SQUARE ENIX MEMBERS and visiting the FINAL FANTASY XIII Feature Page.

*PLEASE NOTE
- The FINAL FANTASY XIV promotional code is available in limited quantities. The code is obtainable by registering a serial code printed on a special MEMBERS Point Card included in the first production run of FINAL FANTASY XIII for PlayStation 3.
- The FINAL FANTASY XIV promotional code enables you to apply for, but does not guarantee participation in, beta testing for FINAL FANTASY XIV. Those selected to participate in the beta test will be notified at a later date.
- The FINAL FANTASY XIV promotional code is required only for the PlayStation 3 beta testing application. The code is not required for the beta testing application for the Windows® version of FINAL FANTASY XIV.
- Submission of the FINAL FANTASY XIV beta testing application is limited to one per Square Enix ID, either for Windows or PlayStation 3.
- Beta testing of the PlayStation 3 version of FINAL FANTASY XIV will begin after the start of the Windows version’s beta testing. The schedule will be announced at a later date.
- The FINAL FANTASY XIV promotional code can be used for FINAL FANTASY XIV beta testing entry starting March 9, 2010. The FINAL FANTASY XIV in-game item can be received after the official start of the FINAL FANTASY XIV service by entering this promotional code.
- Each FINAL FANTASY XIV promotional code may only be used once for each program described in this document.

The Xbox 360 version does not come with the FFXIV promotional code, but instead, codes for the PSICOM avatar items… presumably the same ones that come with the Xbox 360 bundle pack.

Hopefully this means a solid date for both the PC and PlayStation 3 beta phases of Final Fantasy XIV will be revealed soon.
