NieR: Automata Preview Impressions
At Gamescom 2016 I was given the opportunity to view a gameplay demonstration for NieR: Automata - Square Enix and Platinum Games' upcoming Action RPG due out next year. As the follow-up to 2010's NieR the game takes place in the same universe as Drakengard, set in an unknown time following the events of the previous title. With all that information in tow, I certainly had a lot of questions - many of which were answered during an extensive showcase followed by a brief hands-on session with an action-heavy time trial. Going into the off-hands section of the demo, I was given a bit of exposition. Humanity is still fighting a war against an alien race, who invaded earth and forced humans to flee to the moon. Humans, as well as the aliens, use androids to fight each other on our home planet. You play the female android YoRHa No. 2 Model B, or simply "2B" - supported by the male android "9S" and the old, muted "A2" model. The demo starts off within the ruins of a city on Earth. Destroyed buildings and tilted skyscrapers are overrun by greens as nature slowly regains control. Little tent roofs spread about the
Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV Review
Final Fantasy and film-making have a long, storied history spanning back eleven years now. When Squaresoft penned their first film with Final Fantasy: Spirits Within, many were disappointed. How could something like this be considered "Final Fantasy"? A few years later, Square Enix decided to try their hand again - this time with Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, which was praised for its fan service but fell flat as a proper film. 2013 saw the conversion of Final Fantasy Versus XIII to Final Fantasy XV and later that year, director Takeshi Nozue and his team at Square Enix's Visual Works moved forward with a film project that would end up being Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV. It, along with the short anime Brotherhood: Final Fantasy XV function as two pieces of media meant to shed light on initial backstory to the game - though Square Enix insists Kingsglaive can also work as a standalone movie. Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV tells the story of the years long war between the kingdoms of Lucis and Niflheim. After scouring the world, Niflheim's final goal is Lucis - which serves as the last line of defense and bearer of the world's remaining crystal which protects the royal

Interview with Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV director Takeshi Nozue
At the Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV movie premiere in London this week we sat down with  director Takeshi Nozue for a brief video interview. https://youtu.be/r3VnnqieIhg Nozue's previous movie Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children made FF-hearts leap for joy, when it was released in 2005 and many fans are curious about whether Kingsglaive will live up to its expectations. The director talks about what fans can look forward to in the next full length feature movie and its importance compared to the game. The interview covers Lunafreya as the key character of the Final Fantasy XV Universe and Nozue's personal impression of the Final Fantasy brand. We would like to thank Square Enix, Sony Pictures and PlayStation Access for making this interview possible and especially lead writer Dan Inoue for his translations.
