4.2 New Content and Features

• Patch 4.2 is titled Rise of a New Sun and features key artwork by Toshiyuki Itahana.

• Patch 4.2’s main scenario will see us return to Doma, where Hien, Yugiri, and Gosetsu will make an appearance.

• Hildibrand will return in Patch 4.25 for a new adventure as prefaced in Patch 4.1. The team noticed that more people were completing this scenario in the .5 patches, so they will be added in Patch 4.35, 4.45, etc., going forward.

• New beast tribe quests involve the Ananta.

• A new Level 70 dungeon will be added called Hells’ Lid.

• A hard mode Level 70 dungeon will be added called The Fractal Continuum (Hard).

• A new tier of the raid will be Omega Sigmascape; both Normal and Savage modes will be included.

• As part of a new scenario called “The Four Lords” a new trial versus Byakko will be added called The Jade Stoa. Normal and Extreme modes will be included.

The Forbidden Land Eureka – Anemos will be added in Patch 4.25; this will also tie into the new relic equipment progression. The team said this is content they want you to enjoy with many players, and there are some leveling aspects. There will also be strong Notorious Monsters to fight. It’s an entirely new system different than the Diadem. More details will come in the next Live Letter.

• A new Feast PvP map will be added called the Crystal Tower Training Grounds. Rule changes to The Feast are incoming. Match length will be reduced to 6 minutes, and supply box and medal acquisition rates will be adjusted. For in-depth details, see the official forum post.

Glamour is getting a big update. At a glamour commode in an inn room, you can convert equipment into glamour. Note that they will no longer be usable as equipment but the glamour can be applied from the commode at any time. It will cost one glamour prism per piece of equipment. Up to ten ensembles can be created and applied to your character in the glamour commode. All types of glamour prisms will be consolidated into one.

• Job adjustments will be forthcoming — Warrior and Black Mage are being looked at in particular.

• Allagan Tomestones of Mendacity will be the newest iteration of the currency to buy gear.

• Adjustments to main scenario dungeons are coming so that new players may enjoy them easier. They may be a bit longer to complete now but will have increased rewards.

• Exploratory voyages with airships have been expanded with subaquatic voyages using submarines.

• Additional housing plots will be added one week after 4.2. Changes are being made to how plots are purchased and details will be changed close to the patch’s launch. A feature is being planned to teleport to friends’ estates, and retain interior/exterior furnishings on removal.

• Inventory updates will let you stack up to 999 of stackable items, and an “Undo Sort” option has been added. Chocobo Saddlebags have been added — when you unlock your personal chocobo, you’ll be able to store 70 additional items in them. You won’t be able to use them in instanced duties, sell from/deliver/or use as crafting components — you’ll need to transfer them to you main inventory first. You can only add or remove items.

• A new UI for keyboards and controllers will be added for Performance actions. Three new string instruments will be added. Currently there is a lag between an action’s motion and sound of 0.2 seconds, so adjustments are being planned.

Glamour Commode

Commodes can retain up to 200 glamours, and the team suggest you put in items that you’ll only use for glamour. Role restrictions will still remain, but you’ll also be able to create macros which can swap ensembles along with gear set macros.

You can make ensembles of specific parts of a set of gear, and also apply regular glamours as usual. Dyes can be applied per ensemble. Certain items, such as those that can be stored in the armoire, does not need to be converted to glamours.

Duty Recorder

The Duty Recorder will allow you to record and revisit your adventures in instanced duties. You’ll be able to review these recordings from the perspective of each of your party members.

You will be able to save up to three duty records. In order to record a duty, you must enable Duty Records, your party needs to meet the minimum size requirements for the duty, and all players must give consent via a record ready check. If one player does not consent, the recording will not commence. Also, other players’ names in the party list will change to job names.

To change the camera perspective, you can click the party member in the party list or on the model itself. This includes turrets, pets, and enemies. You can watch duty records at an inside rooms, and any you can lock a record to prevent it from being overwritten by new recordings here.
