Nomura: New titles take priority over a Final Fantasy VII remake By Erren Van Duine on May 17, 2012 at 10:56 PM

This week’s issue of Famitsu magazine features an interview with Final Fantasy VII staff on the topic of the game’s 15th anniversary.

Tetsuya Nomura, who handled character design as well as certain gameplay design decisions for the game, weighed in on the ever-hot subject of a FFVII remake.

While he admits there has been a great amount of fan demand for such a thing to happen, Nomura explains that Square Enix at present is more concerned with the creation of all new titles. There’s intention to even make these titles come close or even surpass the level of Final Fantasy VII in terms of quality.

Nomura also considers fellow staff member Yoshinori Kitase as the true successor to the Final Fantasy series – a mantle series creator Hironobu Sakaguchi has since left behind.

Well, as much as I would like a ff7 remake, I suppose it’s true that, on a creative point of view for a company, that new titles would be more suitable.

So, why not show us the two newest FF (type-0 and versus XIII) ?

They don’t want to remake ff7, they refuse to talk about their new titles…. WTF ?

ok fair enough, but you’re remaking 10/remastering it, why not remake IX?
It’s more the fact fans have been asking for this for probs around 10 years, but they’re not taking notice not even saying a solid yes or no – which is frustrating.

Because its easier to remaster ps2 games than to remake ps1 games. Square Enix seems to want the easy way… even tho fans didn’t ask for it.
